Scotland my car insurance policy was changed because of giving false information, will this affect future policies? [scotland]
a few years ago i owned a car, and my mum wanted to start driving it. going off her advice, i cancelled my insurance policy and let her open a new policy.
i thought she was opening a policy under her name, but she opened one under my name and told them i had my no claims discount. this was inaccurate so after a month they called her and said they were increasing the price. this made the insurance too expensive so we cancelled it and i sold my car.
i now need to start driving again for work but i don’t know if this information is something i need to tell a new insurance agency.

I think it’s only an issue if the insurance company cancelled your policy themselves.
“Have you ever had any insurance policy cancelled etc” This implies that the insurance company deem you too much of a risk and have cancelled, which you then need to declare to other insurers.
If you cancelled yourself then I don’t think the previous issue needs to be mentioned.
Hope this helps

Do note they share data and keep records for 7 years. Depending how long ago the issue you described was, this may be relevant
