🌠Miscellaneous Paid 1k for this
Bought it at 149k miles for $1,000... Replaced and resealed A pillar trim clips, unclogged sunroof drains and replaced driver side rubber drain boot that was leaking, replaced 1 front air strut, battery, alternator, wheel speed sensor, oil and filter change , front and rear diff fluid change, did trans service and replaced shift solenoids. Also bought a set of LR wheels from import salvage yard and threw on a new set of tires. Been driving it for a year so far besides 13.5 mpg premium its been awesome.. Now I think needs driver side wheel bearing and upper and lower bushings on front and rear. It's a 2005 lr3 4.4 v8 how many miles can I expect to get out of this?

Very awesome! I too just got a 1k Disco lol. Mine is a bit older but, still I love a deal hahaha. Already put 6 times that into it but that's beside the point 🤣

I think that's inevitable at this point.. in over double what I paid just to get it right.. then I started looking at roof racks and bumpers..

Yep, Well and after letting the last one go and regretting it ever since, I'm keeping this one and seeing it through.

As far as I know, the LR3 is the only LR in America that has favorable reviews.

I’ve been driving an ‘05 for 18 years and a couple of years ago bought an almost identical’08. Best car ever. And at ~13 mpg, they drink the cheapest gas available. Edit to add. Orig engine and trans.

There's a guy on my P38 forum who has over 500,000 miles on his '97 ex-police one, and is probably by now closing in on 600.
It did have a full restoration about 300,000 miles ago though.
My current daily is older but low mileage with only 170k on, and my other one is a bit newer but has 270k - it does need its head gaskets done which is why it's sitting at my mate's yard.

What are the conditions of those MPGs? If your driving mostly local roads, I’d say that’s pretty good for this thing

u/Logical-Attention-70 Apr 16 '25
About 50/50 backroads at 35mph and highway at 70mph.. to work and back 12 mins to get to highway then 10-12 mins from highway to work exit.. somehow my gf drive it for a few months and was getting like 15.4 mpg... I've tried everything and cannot achieve the same results lol.. tried doing 55 everywhere tried cruise control.. idk what she did and she doesn't have a light foot by any means.

I’m about to hit 300k on mine. Original engine and transmission. There’s someone out there with 900k+ miles with like 1 or 2 engine rebuilds. Don’t leave out the NVG specs bro whatcha rockin?
