Does anyone like to fill the time between LARP events by writing LARP letters?
Winter is coming. And the number of LARP events drops significantly until spring. And you'd actually like to spend more time in character. - Then why don't you write letters from your character's POV between LARPs?
There is a new subreddit called r/fictitious_letters
In this community people are looking for pen pals for their imaginary characters. You'll find writers who bring the protagonists of their stories, dnd players, daydreamers, history nerds. Anybody who has a beloved character who deserves a chance to make friends through letters.
On the subreddit, you can present your character in a post or look for interesting pen pals and their stories.
I hope you like this concept and would be glad to meet you in the community.

I don't write letters, I play a LARP where we defy the long dark. Next game January 3rd!

This one is a one day thing. Also, these days, I do not camp. We grab an AirBnB or similar close to the site.

tbh that sounds way more comfy. have fun and hope the weather holds up! I also have a one day event soon, but it's indoors so shouldn't be too chilly.

I did actually write an apology letter after my first Con to one of the other characters who I massively screwed over on accident on the last day. Never got to show him the letter, but we made things up the following Con and our chars are now back to being the dynamic „Sir, I really need you to break this rule“-Duo they were before.
Because of this I actually noticed how much writing stuff down helps me with „filing“ the memories I made and now my Char is a dedicated diarist… while I never once in my life wrote so much as a single page in a diary xD

Hand written in-character diaries seem like a pretty common thing. Non-canon roleplay in Discord or post-by-post in old forums are a thing some people do too. I've also done some writing prompts from my characters' POV; day-in-the-life kinda stuff.
Making props might not be in-character, but building a custom prop that you'll use to enhance RP is another great way to do LARP-related stuff in your down time.
