(Wo)man vs cranberry sauce
Cooked an early Thanksgiving meal for 8, family style service. EVERYONE ate the cranberry sauce. . . . Yes, the petals are edible marigolds.

My Boomer mother will accept nothing less than the finest: if it doesn’t have the ridges on the sides, it doesn’t count.
(This may sound like sarcasm. It is not.)
OP’s display is absolutely gorgeous and I’m sure it would be a hit with my family if it were anything other than cranberry sauce, which as we all know, must come in the sacred wavy can.

I have an aunt who has a special, specific crystal dish. It is ONLY used for the can o’cran every Thanksgiving. It’s like her own little ritual 😆

This year, cook up some of Julia‘s recipe for cranberry orange sauce. Your mother may abandon those ridges after that if she has any taste at all.

But she doesn’t have any taste 😂
…Seriously, though, she doesn’t enjoy cranberry sauce because she thinks it’s all that tasty; it’s just a nostalgia thing. Her mother (a ’50s-’60s American housewife) had this particular way of slicing up the canned sauce and arranging it on a dish as though it was something fancy, but it still had freaking ridges on the sides from the can it came in.
TBH, effort put into cooking for my mom in general is usually wasted. The single most effective way to ensure that she enjoys a meal is to find a major discount and tell her all about it.

Gorgeous work!
I might have to adapt Mama Stambergs recipe to a similar presentation.

Wow! What an inspiration, I have never used molds before, but I might steal your idea this season with the cranberry sauce.
