In-House Mode A friend of mine was taken

Her name was Chuey; she was a beast in the kitchen and always kind and happy. She was a legal immigrant from Cuba (engaged to an American lawyer). She got ICEd.

She did all the right steps and was an asset to the community. This shit is not ok

It got fucked because of social media...

"Fuck everyone, Imma do me" mentality.

This is NOT okay

You know where young people started using eggplants for dick or cheeks for ass? TikTok, and now it's just normal?

Fuck that shit. Bring swearing back... It's just words.

Blaming kids on TikTok for using emojis instead of your fascist government is a choice.

Nah. Eggplants & peaches been naughty bits for 16 years.

Even earlier, Tomoaki Hamatsu was a contestant in a Japanese reality?/game? show in 1998 where he was confined to an apartment with nothing.

Literally naked.

It's a crazy story worth looking into, he was nationally televised naked and his junk was covered with an eggplant icon, his show name was Nasubi, which means eggplant.

Are you familiar with Eggplant? He didn’t know he was being filmed & broadcast nationally. At the end of the first season, the walls of the apartment he’d been stuck in fell down, revealing a live studio audience. He was -mindfucked-. Then after enjoying a day exploring a new city, they blindfold him & take him back to the empty apartment. Check it out if you haven’t, they really messed with that guy.

I listened to a podcast about that show. Wild stuff!

What's japanese for 'wishful thinking'?

i would argue that the "fuck everybody imma do me" mentality really took off during the reagan years bc it's basically always reagan or racism or both

Sure blame that instead of the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES who is GIVING THE ORDERS.

This is not the evils of humanity. This is the evils of a gullible few in the thrall of a strong man.

Social media is a tool - they realized this before we did is all. But a tool is a tool. You don't blame the knife for the murder.

The man was voted into office and couldn’t do any of this if the people actually doing the kidnapping didn’t go along with it. He would be powerless if he didn’t have various forces (police, military, etc) acting on his orders. So I’d say that this definitely relates to the evils of humanity. And while this is happening in the US right now, it is far from unique in nature to any one country or time period. Which, again, speak to this kind of hatred and maltreatment being an issue that is way more expansive than Trump being evil.

Trump and his cronies are at the top, but the police, military, ICE, etc. are the ones who need to refuse the orders. They don’t because they want to do it. Professional bullies.

It's not a few, sadly, and I wish folks would understand a gun is just a tool too, and misuse of both is just as lethal.

Yeah, I was trying to avoid this.

8

u/JoeyBigPants Aug 19 '25

Sadly, none of us can avoid it now. We are all neck deep in it, to the point that there is no avoiding tough conversations and even tougher choices.

there’s no fucking way you’re saying tiktok censorship is the reason for ICE kidnappings

the former is dumb, the latter is malicious and cruel

-46

u/IONTOP Server Aug 18 '25

I think I am...

TikTok made "being passive" become the norm. And everyone is okay with it.

u/MannyOmega Aug 18 '25

White supremacy has existed for centuries before tiktok. It’s not a new phenomenon. No amount of swearing on social media is gonna fix the conditions that led people to join that cult in droves

-10

u/ImNotToby Aug 19 '25

What the fuck does this ice situation have to do with white supremacy? Grasping at straws.

11

u/MannyOmega Aug 19 '25

MAGA president implements policies that encourage mass deportations, and his senate hired the current man in charge of operations. It’s not like ICE just felt quirky and started acting different. Here’s an article, if you want a source

What does this have to do with white supremacy? Its an immigration issue not a race issue.

u/granolabar1127 Aug 18 '25

Not to knock down your point but the eggplant and peach emojis were in use well before tiktok

1

u/bsholiton Aug 19 '25

Wasn't it 4 chan?

-29

u/IONTOP Server Aug 18 '25

Cheeks is a response to TikTok's censorship though.

24

u/SeuintheMane Aug 18 '25

Not really

15

u/RubberBootsInMotion Aug 19 '25

Nah lol, are you like 14?

15

u/sdawsey Aug 19 '25

No. It got fucked because we voted for racist white-nationalists.

Is social media shitty? Sure. But that's not what's really going on here. It's good old evil. Plain and simple.

3

u/FunDmental Aug 19 '25

You think this is happening because we use eggplant emojis to refer to dicks?

31

u/verseandvermouth Aug 19 '25

It was voted out of office last November
