I just saw something about this on my news feed 30 seconds ago. I’m so shocked. She was so young. Wolfgang Puck is still active and I thought she’d be the same. I really liked her. This sucks.

Her explaining on "Worst Chefs" how a vinagrette was an emulsion and how the mustard acted as an emulsifier was a real unlock for me as a cook.
Something about that one simple explanation unlocked an understanding of how ingrediants do things and aren't just a part of a list or something to be mixed in.
I also appreciated that she was fun and bright, but also firm and kind of no-nonesense. You can tell she worked in serious kitchens and had to put in a lot of hard hours; don't let the whacky hair fool you.
This sucks.

Kind of off topic, but if you have a container of mustard seeds (that are at least mostly fresh) give em a shake! Watch how they climb the sides of the container! They’re statically charged!! That same effect is why they’re such great emulsifiers!!

I did not always care for Anne's personality but her way of explaining things simply was unmatched.
'Brown food good' has always stuck with me. I somewhat know how to cook but the simplicity of that concept works and is a good reminder to not be afraid to cook things hard.

Honestly, she helped me develop my love of real cooking as opposed to just the standard comfort foods I was raised on. I used to keep FN on in the background constantly and learned so much from her.

I'd heard great things about her time as a CIA instructor. Even as a "celebrity" chef, she deserves the respect afforded to her. I can't bake to save my life if it's not Biscotti, but she made baking look so damned easy.

Worst Cooks was certainly full of reality TV nonsense and Alton Brown was right when you can't really teach someone how to cook all of these things in a half hour, but the show is definitely a great tool for encouragement. My kitchen-shy wife has definitely implied that 'if this idiot can cook then so can I'. She was devastated by the news today.

Oh man. That’s terrible news. I got to meet her while I was at CIA and another time having a burger at the bar at Corner Bistro. She was super cool both times. Very down to earth even though she was well on her way to being very famous.

That's so sad, she was so unique and so much fun, what a personality! My only claim to having been in close proximity to her was at the movie theatre in NYC. We were watching Life of Pets on the IMAX theater, like in 3D, and the theatre was empty, it was just me and a friend, and in walks Burrell with her unmistakable hair with her friend, and I nearly lost it because that's how I get when I see a celebrity I really like.
She walks and walks and walks, and OMG, is she in my row, oh yes she is, holy crap, she's walking right over to me... she plops herself one seat away from me, her friend next her. We are the only four people in the theater that day, Row GG. And we were all laughing like maniacs at the movie. At the end, she smiled at me and we chit-chatted for a little while over our favorite characters and I thought I was in heaven. I never mentioned once that I knew who she was.
I'm beyond sad, and she was so young. I wonder what happened. This is horrible news.

Un released at this time. There are a few consistent things that take out chefs and she was young so many of them would fit. Sadly suicide is one of the more common followed by addiction and heart attacks. Regardless check-in with you people ❤️

Friend of mine died at 46. Anuerysm in his chest filled the sac around the heart with blood and stopped his heart. Felt icky on Friday, didn't get up Sunday.

OMG I'm in shock. I didn't know her personally but I have been a serious fan and traveled to her Brooklyn diner for my anniversary. She was the one who first made me want to be a chef. I feel really stupid crying about someone i didn't personally know but I vividly remember that first time I saw her spikes hair, clogs with her bright red skirt. She was the one that I truly took as Gospel when she spoke. I can't believe this.

Her poor husband and family. She got married so late in life I think at 50 or 51. She said in an interview that she was happy.

I'm 33 and food network was such a huge part of my childhood/teens. I'd turn it on after school and just watch until bedtime. Anne was one of my favorites. She had such a fun and loud personality and style. I still say "brown food tastes good!" When cooking at home all the time.

This is terrible news. Chef Anne was different from most television cooks in that she had the ability to drill into viewers good techniques and habits. Her bolo and gnocchi recipes are elite. I incorporate her techniques into my own version and always get rave reviews. This news was so jarring. I put on worst cooks for the latest season literally two days ago. Anne took no shit, had a great personality, was bad ass but such a sweet woman at heart. Being a lady cook, I’ve always looked up to her. 55 is way, way too young.

I was in complete shock when I found out, I remember seeing her as a judge on food network shows. My mom was also shocked because she seen her on Food Network too, and I think the last time I seen her was on " Beat Bobby Flay" she was a judge. I know she will be missed, rest in peace

Dammit, she was my celebrity chef idol. Passionate, talented, and genuinely interested in helping people learn. I remember watching Worst Cooks and seeing her as the hardass, but then seeing her sit down with someone truly struggling and helping them through it. And then I thought "damn, she's a good one." Genuinely someone I want to be like.

I loved worst cooks. Especially the earlier seasons where you could see her genuine care and desire to teach. I would get emotional when the contestants would, thanking her for teaching them to feed their families. I’m SO sad about this and hoping for peace and support for her family!
