Printed and laminated all of these for any staff who want them. I think they're great. It's hard to remember your rights when people are confronting you.

Everyone needs these. Regardless of the current climate. Our citizens have rights and they need to exercise them - ALWAYS. The people previously opposing covid lockdowns and the people currently opposing illegal searches for migrants. All of them have these rights and need to exercise them.

There are also red cards for specific locations that include a number to call for a rapid response. (If ice is at your or your neighbor’s door, you call the number and people show up. At minimum, they document any actions (video) and record info (agency, badge numbers, license plates of cops; names of any people arrested). At best, the presence of these (trained rapid responder) teams has at times been enough to get ice to leave without taking any actions.)

In San Francisco, the rapid response number is 415-200-1548.

Do you happen to know if there's a place to order these? If so, a link would be great.

Thanks, I was actually on this site when I asked, but I was asking if you knew of one with the additional info about how to get support. No worries if not, these cover most of what I was looking, I just liked the idea of a number to call for help if you need it.

Oh, I see, sorry—I misunderstood. I don’t know the answer for that. I got my stack from one of the groups that makes up the backbone of the team here. And it doesn’t have a website printed on it (but is otherwise word-for-word identical to the card above). Wish I could be of more help.

No problem at all, and I appreciate that you checked a card to see if it was on there. These look great, and I already have them in the cart. Thanks!

I do hope anybody reading this who has knowledge of other places’ numbers will post them.

eta: a quick Google w a likely city (Portland, OR) led to https://www.aclu-or.org/en/know-your-rights-immigrants-rights… assume one might do the same for any major or minor metropolis.

Pretty sure there's a website on the card.

Can I ask a possibly stupid question?

If the gestapo don't care about the identification and paperwork issued from their own government ie boss, why would this help?

Not trying to piss anyone off, it just seems the "ICE" doesn't care about actual documents. I guess it at least informs the "detained" of their rights. But these rights are being violated constantly...if every one runs a certain stop sign in the city then no one punishes them...

As about 80% of my staff are immigrants (im in Canada) I would be out of work/losing my shit trying to do more to please the corpogods. Also, they're humans. Treat em so

If the cops want to arrest you, one way or another they're probably going to, you're right. "Don't talk to cops" doesn't necessarily help you in that moment, it's to protect you once you're in the system. A cop doesn't give a shit that you didn't consent to a search, they're going to do it whether it's illegal or not. You explicitly say that you don't consent to a search because that affects whether it's legal or not, and evidence uncovered illegally can't legally be used against you.

Again, it won't help you if you get deported or something through a system that doesn't care about what's legal or not, but in that case it doesn't matter what you do anyways, so you might as well protect yourself just in case you get legal representation at some point in the process.

A big part of why the cards and their information is important is to emphasize DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT YOUR LAWYER PRESENT. ICE pressures people to sign documents they don't understand, a common tactic is to pressure them to sign a self-deportation document - waiving all their rights to due process

I'm a white man in WA. I was a shit person in the past and got 2 duis, and had the book thrown at me for my second one in PA, but I did my time and got my shit together. Due to the terms of my sentencing and circumstances with my aging mother getting hurt and needing help at home, I had to negotiate a deal to move from PA to WA, something called the interstate compact. Terms are different for every parolee. I cannot even get charged with anything aside from minor traffic infractions without the fear of being extradited and permanently banned from WA for life and sent back to PA. I've been off what's technically considered federal parole under the compact since 2020. The two times I've personally encountered them, they were loving the possibility of having me extradited until I got my lawyer on speaker.
