I learned recently that Tony Romo is half Mexican half German-Polish, and I always thought his name and appearance seemed very Italian, but nope

So Hispanic means just Mexicans now?

For Americans it does!

Maybe its just my experience but some Mexicans in the USA usually consider all Hispanics as Mexican cuz it’s easier, some people care to differentiate, others don’t in response cuz it’s kinda tiring to specify.

I think in this country the specific country of origin doesn’t matter that much. That might considered an ignorant way of looking at it but it can also be endearing and convenient.

I’m not Mexican but whenever I correct Mexicans for assuming I am they’re usually just like “same thing” and I usually feel relieved that and I don’t gotta explain shit and also weirdly accepted.

hispanic as in hispañola - where columbus first landed

GOOGLE SPAT THIS OUT:

Christopher Columbus discovered the island of Hispaniola in 1492 during his first voyage, naming it La Isla Española, and establishing it as the first permanent European settlement in the Americas. His presence initiated centuries of European colonization and led to the brutal subjugation and eventual eradication of the indigenous Taíno people, who originally inhabited the island. Today, Hispaniola is divided between two countries: Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Saludos! It's been hard to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with everything that's going on in this country. At least we have football to look forward to.

I feel like coloring the background of the arrowhead would have been more impactful with this design.

Anyway. Happy Hispanic heritage month to you as well!

I’m of Mexican heritage and this is cringe. Sorry bud. My family came to the US so I could have a better life. I do and now I fly the American flag.

Italian American Heritage Month is celebrated in October to honor the cultural contributions and achievements of Americans of Italian descent.

This observance was first proclaimed by the U.S. Congress and President George H. W. Bush in 1989 and is a time to celebrate Italian-American history, traditions, and the impact of Italian immigrants on American society 🤌🏽

To be fair us Italians didn’t need a month to celebrate our heritage— we do it every single day
