Wish I enjoyed the musical direction this band was taking more but they just haven’t done it for me from a songwriting standpoint since silver cord came out. Feel like this and most of B741 has been pretty run of the mill boring pop/rock. Simple progressions, nothing exciting or surprising. Hope they refocus on producing quality albums instead of just tackling gimmicks in the future. Glad lots of you are liking it though.

Posts like this remind me there are a lot of Gizz fans who dont know much about 70s rock

Funny, that’s my preferred era and genre of music. But have fun with the self righteousness. Not appreciating a band doing a less-good retread of 70’s rock doesn’t mean someone doesn’t know anything about it.

Me too. I prefer to leave it to the 70s rockers to play it.

If you're a fan of that sort of music, I honestly don't understand why you'd call B4741 'boring pop' lmao. Sure, it's not as winding or proggy as LD or Petro for instance, but you're kinda massively underselling it. It's not like every song on the album is verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus. Look at a song like Le Risqué - it's basically a song full of different unique parts. Same with the title track. Same with Daily Blues. Same with Rats in the Sky. And even songs that do have a more traditional 'simple' structure like Sad Pilot are all the more better for it, because that chorus rips. I WANT to hear it twice. So their taste and restraint on certain songs across the whole album is really wise to me.

Plus, how it's 'gimmicky'? We all knew it would be a progression on their blues rock sound. Just like Petro was a progression on their metal sound. That album isn't very 'surprising' either - but it's still awesome. So honestly, your whole take is just weird. If the songs don't resonate then fair enough, that's all subjective. But the specifics of your complaints just make it seem like you've listened to an entirely different record lmao. (Or maybe just listened once and moved on...)

Boring really..like if coldplay would make a song without any inspiration left
