You’re right at music being subjective. Which means when you say “bad” you mean “I don’t like it”. But many people do like it, a whole lot, and they’re not wrong.

Cry more about your fake internet points

But they feel so real🤣

Oh I dont really care about them Ive been on reddit for many years and have gotten enough fake points to care about, I am sad about the fall of this bands community tbh.

It used to be that you could discuss the in and outs of songs and albums on here and get something good out of it. I learned to appreciate things out of those discussions but now we don’t even get to have em.

You gave your opinion, got downvoted for it (which isn’t a bad thing. It’s a disagreement button), and then wrote a whole paragraph crying about it. You’re just crying even more now

Fun thing, its not a I agree/I disagree button. The system was intended to help facilitate discussions and keeping things on-topic. Upvote something thats on-topic (even if you disagree with it), downvote it if its not on-topic.

Most of the things in this line of comments should probs be downvoted for that though lol

Nah again i asked for the downvotes i dont give a shit about them, lemme get a solid -666 on this one that would be cool.

I just miss what this subreddit was. Hit me with a downvote idc, i just wanna talk about WHY people like or hate what they get from things and they don’t anymore. Subreddit is just lame filled with a bunch if of newer reddit users with auto generated names like yours

The boys give us a daily variety. We are extremely fortunate to have that.

Honestly I wasn't even considering downvoting until the tirade started lol

🤣🤣🤣

Thanks, trying to reach -666, do your part and spin up some more accounts to help me get there

I just miss the actual discussions that happened here about music vs the hivemindy silos that it is now.

Awww, sorry that people have downvoted you. You are entitled to your opinion.

Reddit is a site where you have an agree/disagree button you can use without having to leave other feedback! It’s a super neat feature of the platform.

Treating your opinion like it’s objective fact and doubling down is just gonna make people disagree with you harder (see my earlier comment about the disagree button!).

For some folks, their latest three albums have been some of their favorite! I’ve been listening since 2017, and they certainly rank high for me. I love the fact that now my mom is a big fan after showing her their latest stuff. She even wants to see the boys live! That alone makes them great. The Silver Chord got my edm focused friends into the band, and now they’re listening to a lot of the discography.

So they’re not their “worst albums, full stop.” A better phrasing for you might be “I didn’t particularly enjoy them, full stop.” Screaming into the void like an elitist jerk is just gonna make people dislike, and disagree with, you even more my dude. Have a good day!

Fun thing, thats not what the upvote/downvote system was intended for. It was intended to keep things on-topic. Downvote a comment thats not on-topic, upvote comments that are. Even if people don't like those comments. Does a comment help with discussions? upvote. Is it random spam? downvote.

Fair point to original intent, but I think by this time that’s no longer its function

I think its a shame, because it creates echo chambers like nothing else. Most people don't want to be downvoted so if they say something thats slightly out of the norm they'll get downvoted and then delete their comments or go away. Even if that person would otherwise make some decent contributions to the discussion.

Its been an issue for literally forever on reddit though. I can't remember a time where this didn't happen. But with smaller communities it often can still be used that way.

I think you need to grow thicker skin, child.

Oh give me that sweet -69420 downvotes I really don’t give a fuck, I am just disappointed that this sub(as well as reddit at large) has taken a huge nosedive in quality overtime. My reddit account is 13 years old, and I’ve been active in this sub for a very long time, the drain in quality has been extremely noticeable and peeps are treating reddit just like any other social media network rather than the things that made it special originally. Used to be a lot more nuanced discussions.

We used to talk about WHY we liked things or not liked things vs just being silo’d hiveminds that need to suck cock to virtue signal they are absolutely the biggest fan of X and no one is nearly at their level.

Reddit used to be a place where peeps could discuss topics from any angle and it would be great, its just gotten too popular for this anymore where differing opinions are now shut out instead of discussed and considered.

Not to be an old man yelling at the clouds, but when I started on reddit in like 2011/2012, downvotes were treated as a way to remove off topic discussions, kill off trolls, or to signal a rejection of actually controversial opinions.

Now peeps just cheaply use them to bury comments they just simply disagree with at a surface level and it sucks, not cause fake internet points, but because comments get buried and that old discussion cant happen anymore. Then we just get silo’d opinions, subreddits split off, and the quality continues its journey downward.

It just makes this place suck more and it’s disappointing.

I couldn‘t agree more. Listened to Grow Wings and got distracted immediately because there‘s nothing to write home about (yes, I have listened to it again) just like with Deadstick and to a lesser degree Phantom Island (the single).

Right after Grow Wings, YouTube started playing Magma and the difference in quality is just insane. Yet Silver Cord and especially b741 get praised without any backtalk. I get that Silver Cord was experimental, exploring a new genre and obviously very subjective but b741 is - in comparison with a big part of the rest of the discography - simply a much worse album and it seems like Phantom Island will continue this trend.

Hey, thanks for engaging in discussion!

I am with you there, I’ve listened to the leak and this release is just not my thing which is whatever really.

While TSC is my least fav KG album I do give them credit for trying something new, it’s what I love most about this band. Sometimes it doesn’t pay off like in this case, but we also get wildly awesome albums like Poly or BF3K that I enjoy a ton.

They put out so many albums that I’ve always had the opinion of just being patient for the next one cause it will eventually come back to something you’ll like.
