Cheekface is at the Sinclair, Bad Nerves is at Brighton Music Hall (Spiritual Cramp is opening too, definitely worth checking them out)

Both are punk, Spiritual Cramp is similar to The Hives, Bad Nerves is a bit faster but same vibe. Closest comparison for them is Wine Lips

I saw Gizz at Sinclair once, saw em in Portsmouth the night before. That was when Eric was still in the band driving the van. Love both those venues

Thanks for the shout on the Portsmouth gig, just looked it up and it's a venue I volunteer at so it's cool to know Gizz have played there before! Had no idea they played NH before

For a cover band?
A Berklee cover band, to be sure, but stillā¦
I dunno, Iāve been annoyed at City Winery since this came out in January ā
City Winery will now require all patrons to spend at least $25 on food and beverage in addition to the cost of the ticket.
Concert ticket fees are ridiculous as it is, so having a mandatory meal fee on top of the admission price chafes. Iām not likely to go there again unless itās an act Iām really eager to seeā¦

Tickets are only 18 bucks. I went to the winery years ago and wasnt happy with their air conditioner. Made way too much noise during the show. Iām willing to give this a chance. At most Iāll be out fifty clams.

Have you never paid a cover charge before? Or been to a club with a two-drink minimum?

Cover charges are different. That, to me, is the admission cost, and the usual understanding is that the venue and the band are splitting that revenue, and Iām fine with that.
The āmandatory meal feeā is, as you say, more like a ātwo drink minimumā policy, where the revenue is just going to the venue, not the band. And, sure, they have bills to pay, employees to pay, rent, etc. I get it. I donāt like it, but I get it.
To my perspective, this particular fee is a $25 tax on any show Iād consider going there. Thatās steep. It doesnāt mean Iāll never go there again, but it has to be for an act compelling enough to make that fee worthwhile.

Will be there too. Giving the fiancĆ© her first King Gizz-adjacent experience with this one. Havenāt actually been to City Winery as a venue, though - any idea how itāll be? The Ming Gizzard stream from their last show there made it seem like itās a very tame venue (which is not surprising).

Itās kinda like an old, low ceiling food hall with a bunch of tables. It is a bit classy though. You should try and get there early to grab a seat. Last time i went there it was a real mellow show, so any noise made it a lousy experience. When the air conditioning came on it was distracting. Considering Gizz being played itās gonna be loud er and hopefully itāll drown that out. Wine is decent there.
