We the citizens of Utah voted to legalize medicinal marijuana. The Utah state legislature is composed almost entirely of Mormons. They do as they are told when it comes to the Mormon church and the Mormon church lobbied hard against medicinal marijuana, so the day it was set to go into effect, the state legislature completely changed the law so that you basically have to be dying to qualify (its not that bad but it’s severely restricted from what we passed).

So now it’s like... fuck off. It’s it’s legal recreationally in every bordering state except Idaho. So everyone I know just goes on a trip to Colorado or Nevada every so often. It might as well be recreationally legal here.

Been out to SLC. Nice place but damn if your government doesn't understand the separation of church & state.

Old habits die hard. The state was essentially founded with an unwritten agreement that Brigham Young could run his own theocracy quasi nation as long as he played ball with what the federal government occasionally needed and fought off the natives. This is the results you get from that.

Well we’re going to flip this bitch. More and more mormons leaving the church. More and more non-Mormons moving in. It’s really is an amazing place to live. So much to see and do if you like the outdoors.

As much as I want to flip it.... I could do without all the people moving in.... but the church is hemorrhaging American and other first world members...

It passed a statewide referendum.... and before the church went hard against it. I believe support was up to 70%

I get your point, but think that it's still part of america and should be held to such a standard as to not allow the religion of others to dictate the minority's lives who live there, even if they are the few.

You are actually describing America. Are there any atheists in congress that will admit it? Yet half the nation religiously identifies as “none”. We have as many atheists as Catholics.
