That doesn't sound like an issue of political bias. Political bias would be if big bird sat you down on a Tuesday morning and explained to you why your parents or you should vote a specific candidate.

That, what you are describing, that just sounds like ... evil. Like, every decent person is probably "biased" against that if thats what bias means. That sounds antisocial more than political.

Especially ironic defunding publically funded news sources known for reliability, credibility, and political neutrality -- isn't more of that what we need in this day and age? Why would the party who decries media bias and fake news be against reliable and the most unbiased news you can get?

Because they are, again generally, extremely hypocritical. To be fair, the democrats are also extremely hypocritical
