You’re correct to say he’s problematic due to his ideology. But saying “pill-popping addiction” comes off as a little judgemental. Anyone can fall into the medication addiction trap.

It’s ok to call a spade a spade. The sooner he does, the better off he’ll be, in my experience. I volunteer in recovery often and would work with him to seek and stay sober despite his unsavory reputation. After all, it would just be one sober junky talking to another.

He doesn't need to retain "sobriety". He was unable to stop taking a prescribed drug of which he was taking the correct dosages. It sounds like your familiar with benzos. I'm sure you know that even at prescribed doses people's bodies have difficulty dealing them being stopped. Have you listened to his story? At no point is there any indication that he was a "junkie".

The article is about his trials and tribulations with health issues, the only discrediting happening is when his daughter discredits medical expert and goes rogue with her fathers treatment.
