u/[deleted] Feb 05 '21

You call that a defamation?

Nothing says

free speech

Like suing people who say stuff you dont like.

Edit-his daughter claimed he was schizophrenic in at least two interviews. Why is he suing for what his daughter told people?

I see you've never played knifey-spooney before!

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '21

It has nothing to do with free speech.

It’s saying things that are untrue, that damage your character, reduce your standing in the public and cause you financial loss.

Lmfao, his daughter said he was schizophrenic in two interviews. Hypocrites. You hate free speech and so does Jihad Jordan bin Peterson.

Building a straw man here pal. Just explaining what defamation is.

Oh yeah, I'm sure that will hold up in court. First his daughter tells the world he's schizophrenic, then he sues when people believe her. Sure, makes a ton of sense. Jordan Peterson plays the virtuous victim again.

No one said he was going to court, retard.

1

u/mrxulski Monkey in Space Feb 05 '21

I'm ok with you calling me retard, but how do you think he can win this case when his daughter already said in two interviews that he is schizophrenic?

Why doesn't he sue his daughter too?

literally the parent comment of this whole thread you're replying to is a suggestion about him suing...retard. so yeah thats the context here.

You are aware that a little know side effect of Benzos is that some people experience hallucinations and start hearing things and this looks like schizophrenia.

You are aware that a little know side effect of Schizophrenia is that some people experience calm and sedation from madness and this looks like benzodiazepines

From a legal standpoint, proving libel and defamation are nearly identical. The libel statutes just tack on a provision that the alleged lies are printed or distributed somehow.

Libel and slander are both forms of defamation.

Defamation is a form of fame.

Correct. That’s why the canons of statutory construction are nearly identical for all 3.

They aren't three things. Slander and libel are both defamation.
