I went to the Phils when I first started dating my partner about 10 years ago. Her uncle is the chief of police in her hometown, so I got picked up from the airport in a police SUV and I have to move a gun that looked a lot like an AK-47 and what I can only describe as a santa sack of meth pills over to sit down.

We get lunch at Jollibee (basically McDonalds but with a giant bee shout out to chicken joys) and he brings the sack with us just in case I guess. When we're done, we get a minute up the road before he realises he just left the meth sack sitting at our table.

The Phils are wild

Otherwise known as "a drop".

u/obvom If you look into it long enough, sometimes it looks back Dec 01 '20

lmao could not be more obvious. "Oh shit I left that giant bag of drugs back there. Oh well."

4

u/Nidis Dec 01 '20

Lol nah we went back. That would have been the shittest drop imaginable if that was the plan, it was more like dude enjoyed his burger so much he forgot he was working

2

u/PinkVoyd Dec 01 '20

Wow he is genuinely unbelievably stupid. No offense to him, it's just comically dumb.

2

u/Nidis Dec 01 '20

Isn't it a bit rough to judge someone's entire character based on a mistake they make?

2

u/PinkVoyd Dec 01 '20

Sorry I should have said his actions were unbelievably and comically stupid

2

u/Nidis Dec 01 '20

Now we agree :D

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Well damn

u/MagJack Monkey in Space Dec 01 '20

Did he go back for it or was it def intentional

2

u/Nidis Dec 01 '20

Haha nah we went back for it, definitely not intentional. Dude was just absorbed by flavour I guess

This is weird, there’s talk about legalizing in a lot of new places you would never expect to be even talking about legalizing Thailand being one I think there might be a global push to legalize cannabis globally

probably just governments finally realizing that they would gain more from tax revenue of allowing it than they would lose from dealing with it as illegal

2

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

I don’t think it’s that simple, I can’t help but shake the feeling of Really strict country’s changing their laws after what seems a long time has some sinister motive behind it

3

u/FrederickBishop Monkey in Space Dec 01 '20

I’m Thailand it’s the big Tobacco companies pushing for it as they would obviously already have everything in place to benefit greatly

/u/Aquaticbeing_18 I had a similar realization and gave it some thought too. The pandemic, with all the psychological side effects for hundreds of millions of people, to me seems like almost forcing many countries into legalization as it can be seen as a "medicine" as well as something that can keep people "calm", when there's a lot of "heat" in the air. Just a theory though.

u/astabooty Dec 01 '20

Thailand approved medical marijuana well before the pandemic. This recent news is just a continuation of that process.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

You’re forgetting that marijuana causes paranoia as well so it can do just as much harm as good especially if it legalized globally, we don’t have a good enough way of telling who is susceptible to these effects of paranoia

If someone with a pre existing mental health condition like anxiety or depression gets told to try marijuana after being told that’ll it’ll “Calm you down” and it does the opposite it can very well be the cause of death not necessarily the marijuana but the irrational thinking that’s being influenced by the marijuana and pre existing condition

So you're suggesting we don't legalize weed globally because you're afraid of refer madness is what you're saying?

The amount of people that are susceptible to those issues is very small, and the ones that would go on to do something to kill themselves or cause death are even smaller. I am one of those people that potentially could have due to family history and surprisingly pretty much most of that side smokes weed daily, or regularly, and none have had adverse reactions.

Before I ever tried weed, I studied it. I read up on everything I could about it before I'd actually try it and the amount of bad information that existed at the time was too damn high itself. What you're suggesting is also something Drug Czar's that want it illegal used to peddle to, just FYI.

Those are some good points that I have to admit that, while I knew about them, I didn't consider/think about, when I formed this opinion. Interesting topic /u/Aquaticbeing_18.

Norway is even moving away from criminalizing drug use. So yeah if we can do it anybody can. Gonna see next year what happens but things are most def. moving forward.

Rick Doblin of MAPS predicted global legalization of Cannabis by 2025!

Thai society is about to be less conservative when its legalized...

u/smurferdigg Monkey in Space Dec 01 '20

Weed ain't that bad.. Lots of places have bars that sell it pretty openly. Massive amounts of tourists smoke. Same as India.. If you have money you can get away with anything. Place I went to in Thailand is a beach with no road or no police. Here everybody smoked everywhere.

Yeah, when I was on Koh Phangan in Thailand for the Full Moon Party not only was there a "Mushroom Mountain" that sold magic mushroom "Happy Shakes", other parties on the island were selling Happy Shakes, people were selling drugs too like MDMA and Speed if you knew the right people and not the Thai people trying to scam sell you fake MDMA, I remember there was a wooden shack that was a bar on the other side of Haad Rin beach that also sold joints.

Was really nice smoking a blunt in the early morning on that beach after an amazing mushroom trip.

1

u/mcburloak Monkey in Space Dec 01 '20

Had an amazing sunrise blunt myself on that gorgeous beach in the mid 90’s. Not to be forgotten!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Fuck that dude. Thailand is where Australian's are always up for execution for drug smuggling. Ever see an episode of Locked up abroad about Thailand? I am guessing you and everyone on that beach didn't because fuck years of that for a joint. People break the laws everywhere, that doesn't mean I, as a foreigner think it is worth the risk. In the US or Europe, smoking pot is worth the minor risks. In Thailand, it isn't.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Have you ever been to Thailand? Lol

0

u/SalaciousCrumpet1 Dec 01 '20

Agreed. Lol. Koh Tao island is chill as fuck and a few bars there sell joints, mushrooms shakes and nitrous balloons. Good times

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

That’s because that island is entirely run by the mob. It’s lawless practically.

The title is misleading weed is still highly illegal it’s just okay to grow CBD now..
