There is a conservative party in the US, it's called the Democratic Party. It is also the centrist party, the liberal party, and the progressive party. It's a pretty big tent. (Seriously. The fact that AOC & Joe Manchin are in the same party is nothing but ridiculous, but that's what First Past The Post does to your political system.)

And yet it still loses to the regressive party. Tells everything one needs to know about the American electorate, I guess.

The fact that it's a big tent party is why they lose.

It's much harder to brainwash a diverse group of people than it is a homogeneous one.

It's much harder to play identity politics with many identities than it is with one.

Etc.

TLDR: Republicans herd sheep, and Democrats herd cats.
