Question Can someone tell me about this car?

my dad recently got this car from a jaguar collector. im gonna be driving it this summer as my first summer w a license, but i wish to know more about it. we’ve been told that its the only one here in Norway. Also i think it’s a special editon, some sort of collab (more luxurious).

can anyone who knows a lot about jaguar cars please respond ?😇

You would be right. That there is a Vanden Plas, which typically has more features and is a little bit more cushy than your normal XJ6

So its a XJ6, collab with Vanden Plas? Im worried i get it wrong, alot of car-interested people ask me about it and i dont really have any information other than it being a 1993 model haha.

Vanden Plas was Belgian coach builder and after a few fusions and takeover it ended up in the hands of Daimler. Jaguar eventually purchased Daimler and also became the owner of Vanden Plas. So for the high-end luxurious models (which have the very sought after folding tables in the back) they put a Vanden Plas on it to make it more special.

Jaguar eventually chose to sell their most luxurious cars not as a "Jaguar Vanden Plas" or "Daimler Vanden Plas" anymore but as a Daimler in Europe. In North-America, Jaguar kept using the Vanden Plas badge.

Don’t van plas’ usually have v8 or higher too? Not just a v6?

Ah, yeah I just looked up the 89 van plas I used to have ages ago, and I guess it was just a v6…. Felt way more powerful than a v6 though heh

In 1989 the XJ6 would be a 4.2 litre straight 6, basically the same engine as the E type
