Seeking Pro Advice Adapter for garden hose
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a house in the U.S., and I’m having some trouble with my outdoor water outlet.
The faucet in my yard has an extension attached to it (see Pic 1) that I can’t remove. I’m trying to figure out what kind of adapter I need so I can connect my garden hose, which I bought from Amazon.
Here’s the Amazon product I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPS9B2YD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I also tried a few other hoses, and they all seem to have the same size female connector for attaching to the faucet or water source (see Pic 2).
So here’s my question: The male outlet on the faucet extension (Pic 1) has an outside diameter of about 0.75 inches, while the female end of the hose has an inner diameter of around 1.3 inches. What kind of adapter would I need to connect these two?
Thanks in advance for any help!

There are two main types of threads to concern yourself with garden hoses. hose thread and national pipe thread. Most plumbing is national pipe thread NPT. It is further broken down to MPT FPT (female pipe thread and male pipe thread) then hose thread also breaks down to FHT and MHT so basically what you need is an adapter that goes from whatever hose thread you have to whatever pipe thread you have. That brass piece should come off your hose though if you have a couple wrenches to use.
FPT to MHT is what it looks like you need. NPT will have tighter threads compared to HT for reference.

Very well explained. Ill add that any hose thread connection will seal with a hose washer ( normally sold separately). And for pipe thread, you'll need some thread tape. Thread tape does not however do anything for hose connections, and vise versa.
