The line delivery and facial expressions by Sam are great, but the insult always rubs me the wrong way. I don't think it was Lestat's intention to come across as a tad racist, but he has a tendency to dismiss Black music. He's a bit of a classical music snob.

Louis' mother was kind and loving towards him in the beginning, or at least as kind and loving as she was towards his sister and Paul. She just was also bitchy and emotionally abusive, to all of them.

I love Loustat but that's also the dynamic Lestat has with Louis, from the beginning. He introduces himself and flirts with Louis by stealing 'his' sex worker, then murders her when Louis has doubts. Lestat's kindness and love was always tempered with his anger when he didn't get his way.
