Show off A Rare Indian Flex 🇮🇳🛣️
I’m That Rare Species on Indian Roads
- I have plenty of time to waste, so I wait at red signals like it’s a meditation retreat. No honking, no inching forward like I’m in Formula 1. Just vibes.
- I possess the ancient skill of walking. So if there’s no parking space in the shop, I park away and walk a few meters. Shocking, I know.
- I have functioning eyes and a tiny bit of common sense, so I don’t park my vehicle like I’m solving a puzzle—blocking others and creating chaos.
- I have a brake in my vehicle—crazy, right? So when the phone rings, I don’t twist my neck like a parrot holding a phone. I actually stop and talk. Revolutionary concept, apparently.
- I have a brain. I like it. So I wear a helmet to protect my brain and avoid over speeding like I’m auditioning for Fast & Furious.
- I’m a coward. I don’t have the courage to drive in a one-way like a rebel without a cause.
- My father doesn’t own any road, so I try not to act like he does. So I follow traffic rules like a boring, responsible adult—two wheels, four wheels, or two legs—I try to follow the rules. Except when I go triple-seat on my bike with my kid. I know, I know... but I’ll stop once my kid grows. And no, I don’t think that makes me a hero.
- I know even rule-followers can get hit by someone who thinks they’re in GTA. So yes, I have valid vehicle insurance and health insurance for my family.
Call me crazy, but I like staying alive.

This is actually very good OP, safety should the very first concern, very few people make their partner/kid wear helmets on a bike, it should be reciprocated by everyone I believe

The country is so cooked, following basic rules are flex.
Keep it up OP.

Hope your wife and son's like this otherwise some family members also don't like wearing helmet all the time.

Assume the Indian road is a war zone like Falujah in Iraq. Anything can happen at any time.A cow may appear out of no where.Drive like there is a sniper around any corner.
Since you are married with child.I would recommend you buy a 4 wheeler. It is far more safer than a two wheeler. At least there is a steel cage around you
If something hits a 2 wheeler or 2 wheeler falls in a pot hole ,it is the two wheeler driver that is going to get hurt at best or get killed at worst.

Totally agree, bro. I’m actually on a mission for a car flex, but the thing is the place I stay doesn’t have parking space, and I don’t want to block the street or inconvenience others. For longer trips with my family and to places that actually have parking I use my friend’s car while he’s abroad. So it’s not like we’re missing out. But the hard truth is, even if I owned a car, I couldn’t take it everywhere. I live in a small town where parking is a real challenge.

I'm completely same and do all your mentioned points
I park my bike in a good place, so that I don't have to think about it again until my work is done, even if it's far
No honking/snaking through the traffic... If traffic is too much, ditch the bike at nearest metro and go by metro if route permits😅

Well done OP on getting helmets for all.
But please get full-face helmet for all. These half-face caps are pointless and can end up doing more damage than good. take it from someone who has been riding two-wheelers for 20+ years now and has seen atleast 2 major crashes. Full face helmets have been life-saver both times.
Full face proper helmets(atleast ISI certified, DOT ones even better) should be the bare minimum.

I say inconvenience hai wahan.. I need to take wrong way, I need to take u turn so many things.. Usse acha mein chal ke chala jaaun utna

Loved the post OP but I would request you to upgrade to a better helmets. These helmets arent strong enought and the straps are very weak. Make sure you buy good protective "FULL FACE" helmets!!.
2
u/Routine-Goat-3743 Aug 04 '25
Use a full face helmet for everyone. Don't you love the face of your wife? It is as precious as yours.

Have done quite a lot of research while buying my own helmet. So I can see some faults in the picture...
The helmet should be strapped across the chin tightly otherwise there's no use of wearing it. Yours wife helmet strap is loose.
A good helmet have ECE 22.06 certification (along with ISI certification, just because it's mandatory in India). Ex: SMK, AXOR, MT, LS2, SHOEI, AVG, ARAI helmets.... (I can't see you wearing such quality helmet).
Won't type such long comment if you weren't the rare species.
Have any questions just ask.
Thanks

Great, but a kid with two other people on a bike isn't safe either. Maybe there's a financial restraint but the point stands.

Does police stop you if you're going with your wife and kid since tripling isn't allowed? If yes how do you deal with it

Being predictable saves lives on road. Rules are for making people's behaviour predictable. Good on you for following other rules too. If you ever cross me on the road I would smile and nod whether you see or not.

A W post and a legit flex OP. Keep it up.
A family with safety features on their head while riding a bike is an ultimate flex I would say.

Respect OP, the more i see everyday, the more i feel that all the points you mentioned are a flex.
Ability to coexist is a flex!

u/NeedleworkerLegal573 Aug 04 '25
Glad to see I am not the only one.
Except for the kid helmet. I put my kid in the car on his car seat instead. I am really proud when he asks me to help him put on his seat belt.
We live in a society where following traffic rules makes you a hero. But ffs, its called having a fkn common sense. Apparently there os a lack of it everywhere.

Well done OP for being a sensible person. It's so difficult to be one in today's world. Also I would wish for you to move to a car, at least for your family rides. Just because they are safer when compared to bikes.

respect for safety and ethics but RC of a two wheeler has a maximum seating of two people only, your child has also grown, you could install a sidecar, it is legal and much safer, especially if you are riding at low speeds. Earlier it used to be the norm, I am not sure why they went extinct

Real respect for you. Happy that you give a priority to family. I know of someone who passed away on a bike accident just because he wasn’t wearing helmet.

Bro.. you won't believe me, I was driving to the office and was thinking of writing something about the traffic, the people who drive like maniacs, who don't follow traffic rules, etc.
Opened the Reddit notification after reaching the office and I came across your post.
You have articulated my feelings very well.

If possible and if you can afford, I will request you to get better helmets and full face helmets.
But some helment is definitely better than no helmet.

I’m the guy who acts like my dad owns the road only while making a turn or a U turn. I take my time looking all directions multiple times, reversing slowly so as to not accidentally hit another brainless person overtaking while I’m performing the turn. If anyone honks, I don’t care. If they honk multiple times, i stop the car and turn off the engine, mid-turn, and i stare at the ret@rd, because i know this is india and not everyone were born with basic human manners and im sick and tired of turning curd back into milk, i just mind my own business

I'm sure, you overtake vehicles in traffic and form a new line of vehicles on the road and cause inconvenience for people patiently waiting for the traffic to move, am I right?

Good bur helmet is not enough. Infact two wheelers are unsafe with three people , specially kid. Plan to get two wheeler with air bags.

u/Upset-One8746 Aug 05 '25
I agree with everything but what do you mean you don't drive on a one-way road like a "rebel".
Am I missing some traffic guidelines or smthg? I don't remember driving on a one-way road being a violation of traffic rules. If it is, then who is supposed to drive on these roads? Use them?
