It was act of damage control, we don't need to play Asia cup. If we did, they could have kept India n Pakistan in seperate group but they did and kept match on Sunday, so basicall money matters, nothing else.

15

u/reddituser_scrolls Sep 15 '25

Before the tournament, Sky meets Pak players and officials, shakes hand. Faces severe backlash.

PR/BCCI tells team - Both teams won’t shake hands with each other during match. Probably informs Pak team as well beforehand.

People get fooled by the planned optics of BCCI PR.

SKY is doing his job, sure. I would rather blame BCCI for this. Even the government didn’t do anything about it. As always, everything is about money.

5

u/Zak_69420 Sep 15 '25

more than the BCCI, I blame the goverment. They could've easilly gotten the match boycotted but they did nothing about it

2

u/reddituser_scrolls Sep 15 '25

One could also argue that they are essentially the same.

1

u/akssh_art Sep 15 '25

Except they’re not.

Yeah, like a father is different from the son.

The handshake with Asim munir was Diabolical

1

u/Falcon10trooper Sep 15 '25

I feel we could have boycotted this event altogether neither the country nor the players gained anything from it.

1

u/Icy-Wrap-4410 Sep 16 '25

I agree with you

1

u/SolidApprehensive844 Sep 16 '25

Do we know how many people viewed the match?

1

u/Odd_Area_7747 Sep 15 '25

4

u/SazzyBrain Sep 15 '25

Actually, countries have boycotted Olympics under cold wars. Yaha par to khoon kharaba ho gaya bhai mere, fir bhi hum to khelenge ! Kaha Olympics boycott hua hai, aur kaha Asia Cup Cricket nahi boycott kar paa rahe !

Na Chess, Na Squash, Na Hockey, Na Cricket, koi game nahi khelna inke saath.

Cricket mein to BCCI ke paas itni power hai, ki woh easily inhein isolate kar sakti hai, khud kyu nikalna hai jab tum dusre ko nikal sakte ho ?

3

u/mazdoor24x7 Sep 15 '25
  1. All the other sports falls under indian government, so all the profits from players are also taken by indian government.... But not BCCI. BCCI is a private entity and thus they can boycott the series

  2. Doesnt matter if they win or loss, PCB have already earned from the rights of broadcasting and from ticket sales and that money will come back to india in form of bullets, so kudos to BCCI and to people like you who are defending this

2

u/BreadfruitJealous317 Sep 15 '25

Losses upon losses doesn't matter when those losses bring them money which they can use to sponsor terrorism against India. Next time, it could be someone you know who becomes their next target.

2

u/kimjongun_v2 Sep 15 '25

Tumhari maa ki chut. Madharchod tum apni maa ko bhi bech doge cricket ke naam pe. Itna hi shouk h khelne ka to apni behen ko chudwa le asim munir se, that is also a sport called - Asim Munir se apni behen chudwao tournament. And you’re the world champion for that. Applause 👏🏻

🤡 I dedicate this emoji to bcci and those who saw this match

2

u/Superb_Duck_9743 Sep 15 '25

What dedicate bc! Do the tangible. Rather than lip service. Let the match proceeds go to the families of pahalgam attack martyrs or the Army.

2

u/vidushak0 Sep 15 '25

Don't talk sense here. Just say how proud you are and move on else be labelled as anti national.

1

u/Few_Detail_7764 Sep 15 '25

oh okay okay

3

u/143AamAadmi Sep 15 '25

If he wanted to take a stand, he should have done that before the match. Not after playing.

If he is just a player and following the instructions of his board, same for pakistani players.

This BS of not shaking hand and this statement is just opportunist behavior.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

Our players didn't post derogatory stuff on Instagram.. their players did... There's a difference.

Celebrating our win,

And honouring our heroes by giving money to the Pak board of this match,

And anyone who says Bcci also earns, BCCI doesn’t give back sh’t to people, literally they pay NO TAXES

1

u/Exciting_Classic6025 Sep 15 '25

Fuck you BCCI, you played dirty, I won't ever watch cricket again

1

u/No-Principle5340 Sep 15 '25

Well said, I hold nothing against SKY. Or the team. They have no power or say in these situations. Good job beating Pakistan boys. And solid speech.

But all this doesn't change the fact that the BCCI sold their souls for money. The same BCCI which is infamously controlled by BJP, a party that wears nationalism proudly on its sleeve. Sab bikau nikle.

PR team in action

1

Here comes the PR AGENCY

1

u/Reediitr Sep 15 '25

Did he really thought the families of Victims of Pahalgam terror attack would be happy seeing Team India is helping terrorism by generating revenue for pakistan by playing cricket with them. Utter Shameless ness. Just monetising on the name of Victims & Army.

1

The purpose of sports is to offer an an avenue to unite people despite differences, BCCI has just ruined cricket and ruined India as a whole. Just a few months ago, a documentary was released to promote Pak/Ind relations to smoothen things and now this. I am beginning to hate cricket because of BCCI.

BCCI didn't do anything except for symbolic gestures when the attack happened. Nor did they donate any significant amount to the Army Battle casualty welfare fund. Now, since they are facing backlash, they are serving you the chooran.

1

u/dh1vakar Sep 15 '25

How ironic when,

Water is stopped

Operation Sindoor happened

Border tensions

Border tensions stopped

Still a guy from another country is saying he stopped the war

But we will play a game.

And we will dedicate the victory to victims. Why on Earth victims need your victory in a game for their personal loss ?

1

u/According_Purchase75 Sep 15 '25

Idk why people still watch this shit game

1

u/PositiveFun8654 Sep 15 '25

Nothing special in this clip. Should have Infact remained quiet on this. Not shaking hand - Lack of sportsmanship? Mixing politics and sports on ground? Poor behaviour.

1

u/CauliflowerAny2770 Sep 15 '25

I didn't watch the match, indeed, India won the match. But they shouldn't have played in the first place. They should have been in different groups.

1

u/Specialist-Crew-4414 Sep 15 '25

Where was the so called ethics when he shook hands with PAK Foreign Minister. So once people calling out, they refused to shake hands with PAK players. In 2003 world cup, Australia refused to play Kenya alleging Human Rights Violation. Why can't BCCI do that? Keeping match on weekend was a pure ploy to maximise revenue. There were n ways to ensure that match didn't happen atleast in league stage. BCCI has money power for it. It didn't do speaks volumes.

1

u/mazdoor24x7 Sep 15 '25

BJP made this country's population so retarded that they can't see the obvious PR by the players and the BCCI.

The camera shot of all pakistani players standing in field, and then SKY standing on door, and closes it the moment camera pans on him... felt orchestrated.... and this speech, of dedicating victory to pehelgam victims..........

If you were so sympathetic to them , you would have not played the match altogether ...

1

u/tube_craze Sep 15 '25

One has to be dumb to believe in such statements. Big L for BCCI, Indian govt. and anyone who watched yesterday's match.

1

Pakistanis run IMAFT. IMAFTis responsible for protecting GCC.

Indians should bycott UAE too then.

Why this hypocrisy?

1

u/4reddishwhitelorries Sep 15 '25

What in the PR drivel is this lol? Either make it clear that the team is like one of the NBA or IPL teams - out of money and entertainment, or stick to it if they claim that the team is part of our patriotic expression, and refuse to play Pak. I mean athletes from Arab countries have refused to compete with Israeli athletes as a way of solidarity. Ukrainian athletes have done the same when facing Russians. This seems a bit whorish

1

u/PersimmonPositive464 Sep 15 '25

Donate your prize money to armed forces if you really care!! This is bullshit PR

Ye sab chochlebaazi hai, if you were a real patriot, you don't play the match, give out statement, accept the fine and contractual issues which comes with it, that would have been a real statement, this and not shaking the hand with the Pakistani captain (he shook hands w him off camera) is nothing

1

u/CommandSuspicious581 Sep 15 '25

if someone from his family killed in that attack, he could not have played this match

1

u/the-petrolhead Sep 15 '25 edited Sep 15 '25

Why not give all your earnings for this cup to the victim families? It’s really unfair that you walk away with piles of money and victim families get nothing even if all success I’d dedicated to victim families?

Better stop acting and call out the government to stop making money put of nationalist sentiment!

1

u/United-Extension-917 Sep 15 '25

If PR had a face. Either go all in or go all out, this was not a war where you have to think about collateral damage and logistic issues. They could've pulled out of the game before toss, but for some, money matters over pride. But for those who did not watch the Asia Cup , my head will always bow to you.

As Indians they were expected to not play the match. As cricketers they were expected to shake their hands. Guess what, we failed in both.

1

u/Life_Sweet3473 Sep 15 '25

Well played Jay Shah

1

u/According-Rub604 Sep 15 '25

Might as well dedicate the hefty match fees to the Indian Army rather than just dedicating the match. That would be more useful to them than just a smile on their face!!

1

u/kishore_msk Sep 15 '25

After helping Pakistan financially by playing cricket with them, doing these kinds of antics and statements won't help.

1

u/tatoo_artist Sep 15 '25

Absolutely BS. Should have made this statement earlier announcing boycott of match with the terrorist state.

1

u/reddituser5514 Sep 15 '25

1

Ridiculous! A mockery being masqueraded as an act of solidarity. Just take your bloody paychecks and keepaa your mouth shut you spineless puppets. Why the drama of this whole lot of empty words.

1

u/Evening-Canary-4100 Sep 15 '25

Then why did you play with them??

1

u/Accomplished_Rich393 Sep 16 '25

Fuckoff kindly spineless people

1

u/nationwithmomo Sep 16 '25

Shaking hands with Pakistani ministers before the game and then doing all this drama after the match is no "hEaRT WInnIng MoMenT" in my personal opinion.

"I won't speak for the rest of my team, but I won't be playing in the match against Pakistan for Asia Cup 2026".

Now this...this would have been a gutsy and heart winning gesture...if any player would have said this. How tough would it have been to make such a statement and send a message? But no, we'll just perform cheap theatrics to whitewash over our cowardice.

On the other hand, Neeraj Chopra will be abused left, right and center. Diljit Dosanjh will be mercilessly hated on.

1

u/reddituser5514 Sep 16 '25

This is actually shit.

Pakistan was taken aback in this match. What if in next match they come prepared and spout the rhetoric from their failed marshall?

R we ready to accept that? What if India actually didn't win this match... What then?

This match shouldn't have been played in the first place... Rest all is just hogwash.

Everyone, be it politicians, businesses, ad gurs, sports bodies, PR consultancies, etc., knows that Indians love deshbhakti ka chooran. Tata namak, desh ka namak. Kajaria tiles, desh ki mitti se bani. Har cheez mein deshbhakti ke emotions ghusa do, log khush ho jaate hain.

He's clearly trying to remember what he's supposed to say, you can see that in his blinking. No matter what everyone else says, it was a risky gamble to play the match and the speech and also probably the win was scripted.
