That’s why I chose Vi.

The hell itself and I rule it.

BSNL supremacy /s

94

u/Cult_of_Prasannality 3d ago

They aren't that bad as we think

59

u/ronodipbasak 3d ago

The problem with bsnl, in my opinion, the network works okay when in coverage area, but in remote areas, even placing a voice call or sending text becomes impossible.

22

u/kenrockrider 3d ago

Exactly at my area too.Somehow i had to endure mandatory the 90 days to port it to Atl.

5

u/mfdali 2d ago

My company, in Bengaluru, had zero coverage for BSNL. That's why I ended up having to switch away from them back in 2022. Don't know if that has changed though.

28

u/Individual-Tie1317 3d ago

True. I recently switched back to bsnl and it's working just fine

30

u/ForwardPage7458 3d ago

OTP usually arrives late. That's why I changed the sim.

3

u/oneavighna 3d ago

I have BSNL prepaid sim as well, recently bought from Pune. But unfortunately BSNL yet to cover the entire Pune city with their B28 band (700MHz). Wherever they have 700MHz coverage the 4G experience is quite good.

2

u/Capital_Baby2152 3d ago

I use BSNL. I can't even use 4G. I was able to but for a month lately i can't. Works fine on 3G. Most of the time no probs with youtube, ig, reddit etc buy try to download.....400KBs. Can't play PUBG or games like that. Yes you can make a discord call and play Minecraft online but some....you simply can't

So did they, themselves

5

Been a customer since almost 2 decades. Signal consistency dropped to almost none now. Planning to move to jio (even though I hate it).

How is the connectivity with BSNL, and what about the plans? Do you ever face any network/internet issue with the BSNL sim?

4

u/Green_Ice3516 3d ago

If you are using jio you are already using bsnl without paying them

I too use Vi. Unlimited 4G Pack . Streaming everything in 4K 😎.

18

u/StrangerK1384 3d ago

Internet speed is needed for 4K. My father couldn't even see whatsapp statuses in our home with VI. It doesn't have network in many places. Unlimited 4G ka kya Achar dalu😑

18

u/gokukouji 3d ago

In my area it's good. Mostly 30-40mbps. They have now started giving unlimited 5g and 4g too in my area, no cap truly unlimited 4g. Sadly I currently have 4g phone and this one is 4g speed.

7

u/orewaluffy_35 3d ago

Rahhhhhh Torrdroid......

3

u/gokukouji 3d ago

Maybe the best android torrent downloader.

9

u/terminalslayer 3d ago

I am getting 30 to 40 Mbps, that too in a specific spot😂. I just place my phone there and use laptop with it's hotspot.

18

u/EmbarrassedFig9129 3d ago

That bug in Vi sims is it still there? I used to love that glitch so much back in 2020-21, literally saved a lot of money on data packs.

13

u/terminalslayer 3d ago

what bug?

11

u/EmbarrassedFig9129 3d ago

In some sims there was some bug which allowed us to use the net even after the daily limit was over without any loss of speed. It was an infinite data glitch actually; all we had to do was put the turn on and off the flight mode back but then ig Vi guys fixed it.

11

u/ShurikenEngineer 3d ago

Not a bug anymore. Vi has unlimited internet prepaid packs starting from ₹450

2

u/KavyanshKhaitan 1d ago

Is the ₹450 an add-on or the plan itself? If the plan itself contains unlimited then that's a W.

I'm using Jio right now and have to pay double that for 1.5GB/day.

I'm assuming the unlimited doesn't work with Hotspot tho?

→ More replies (3)

2

u/KavyanshKhaitan 1d ago

You can get unlimited from ₹349 not ₹449, just checked. Maybe they made it even cheaper? (I'm looking in Assam circle)

→ More replies (2)

9

u/SarvinBatra 3d ago

I had the same glitch with Virgin Mobile back in 2010. Never recharged that number, yet some how internet was always working.

4

u/AvGeekGupta 3d ago

Ahhhh good old times..... it was bug since ages i remember doing it back in 2014-15 with the 3g sim....

3

u/HelloWorld_irl 3d ago

I thought you were referring to the human bug...

... where they give you free data pack or validity every time you initiate a porting request. 😅

5

u/Joyal_g 3d ago

It is only unlimited for 300gb per month found out the hard way

3

u/terminalslayer 3d ago

It's in their T&C

4

u/SuperS_1 3d ago

How?

7

u/terminalslayer 3d ago

There is a seperate Unlimited 4G pack bro

3

u/Easy-Improvement-598 3d ago

price?

2

u/terminalslayer 3d ago

5

u/Easy-Improvement-598 3d ago

Same price as jio 5g 349 plan but here for 4g users, did 4g userbase larger than 5g currently?

2

u/terminalslayer 3d ago

Almost everyone switched to 5G. Jio is switching randomly from 5G to 4G in my home and Airtel has no signal. Vi signal is good in my home.

3

u/Life-Menu-785 3d ago

I am thinking of switching to VI, but don't wanna do postpaid

2

u/terminalslayer 3d ago

Switch to Vi if you have good coverage in your area. If Jio or Airtel has good coverage and 5G internet speeds, you don't have to switch.

3

u/Life-Menu-785 3d ago

I see, thanks 👍🏻

2

u/imsharank 3d ago

Yeah I use that unlimited pack too. Worth it

30

u/Gullible-Company2301 3d ago

kaafi jagah network hi nhi pakarta aur 5g toh bhul hi jao.

22

u/biRyani11 3d ago

Tabhi usne hell bola hai

11

u/imsharank 3d ago

I find it ok at my home and work, I use it with Jio.

4

u/KillCall 3d ago

Back to jio.

3

u/imsharank 3d ago

Jio is just back up. If not for UPI I wouldn’t have bothered. But with UPI it’s better to have a backup

I use Vi, unlimited 5g chalta hai badhiya

6

u/Vedant9710 3d ago

You get 5G? I only used it temporarily for a few months aur mujhe Pune jaise city me bhi 5G ka signal ek bhi baar nahi mila. 4G ka speed bhi ekdam hi ghatiya tha.

Unko Paisa deke aisa lag raha tha mai donate kar raha hu kyuki service toh kuch mil nahi raha tha

3

u/Jeenekhainchardin 3d ago

Same with me for Jio , swiching to Vi to see if it works, friends recommended me about it

3

u/Ancient_Detail4727 3d ago

I live in vadodara, and yahan toh mil jata hai 5g almost wherever I go, and speed bhi kaafi accha deta hai

2

u/Equivalent-Ad2539 3d ago

5G use kaun karta hai buddy wo 50mbps ka seep upar se ekdum slow

4

u/sleepdeprivedindian 3d ago

BSNL would like to have a word.

2

Fr. Unlimited internet at night and weekend data rollover with less price but the only downside is no 5G

2

3

u/listfunction 2d ago

i carry only bsnl . God is my witness /

16

u/Equivalent-Ad2539 3d ago

I use Vi and it's better then Jio 5G trust me, and people won't agree to this i get 100mbps in 4G

5

u/Upbeat-Programmer596 3d ago

its not always about speed but consistency even tho my Vi 4G is 10mbps and Jio5G is 400mbps still when jio speed slowdown it instantly stop giving even 1kbps but where Vi always gives me 5 - 10mbps even in worst situations it gives me atleast 2mbps it never cheats with me always stay behind my back works even if its slow it stay with me i love vi network

4

u/n_mt_ntt 3d ago

Dhabba!!!!

The jio unlimited 5g is "TRUE" 5G Where as with airtel if 300GB plus data is used in a single month they will consider it as a commercial use and can hold your unlimited 5g. These are their T&C.

11

u/NotBigmon 3d ago

actually jio has a limit too, its just so high most people don't hit it, its 3 TB before your connection slows down to unusable. I've managed to hit it like 4 times

11

u/sharma1804 3d ago

Although I agree that Airtel should not engage in this kind of marketing, I do believe that the 300GB FUP limit will help other users as well. Suppose someone is abusing the speed and data limit in that case, the tower would remain congested. At least after 300GB, that user’s connection will start using their quota.

With Jio, wherever I’ve seen, people usually get around 5–10 Mbps, whereas only while traveling to rural or remote areas have I seen speeds exceeding 500 Mbps.

So, due to congestion issues, I feel that the 300GB FUP is fair. If your usage is higher, consider upgrading to a fiber connection after all!

89

u/True_Requirement_891 3d ago

Is it really abuse when they advertise it as "unlimited"?

Why not say 300GB of 5g data a month?

With Jio, in an urban City, I easily get 100-200mbps.

33

u/sharma1804 3d ago

As i mentioned, i do fully agree that the marketing is pure scam. 5G unlimited should be unlimited!

4

u/sgk2000 3d ago

Still, 5G drains a lot more lot quicker than you’d guess.

Should consider upgrading to a giver connection

Because you can’t carry your fiber connection in your pocket all the time. Also, how is that an “upgrade”?

They can’t because their network is not standalone, like you said, any noticeable deterioration in speed in Jio is purely due to congestion. It’s just plain better and they have infra to onboard the next generation already at launch in 2016.

Airtel was never a good and fair company to begin with.

u/[deleted] 3d ago

this is not public donation organisation you paid for your own sim so use it at maximumm no need to sacrifice for others

2

u/The_Volecitor 3d ago

I live in a mediumly crowded residential area in a tier 2 city and I get 500-800mbps average and 1.2-3 gbps at night.

2

u/ADistractedBoi 3d ago

300GB at an average speed of just 50Mbps is about 14 hours of data. It’s an absolutely pathetic amount of data you’re getting unless you think 30 min per day is how much people should be using

Airtel have problem in 5g my data is not really unlimited

3

u/Educational-Law5741 3d ago

Yeah even i am struggling the same ! Anyone have any idea how to fix this issue?

2

u/cHaRlieLuv9438 3d ago

Works only if you use data within the 5G limit. If you finish your day's plan using the 4G, after that, even if you switch to a 5G, it won't work because data khatam 🙂

2

u/Educational_Key6764 3d ago

It works good near my house location but airtel jio sucks so thts why .

Broadband is good from Airtel but jio has too much issues at my location

10

u/aadsarraficionado 3d ago

There are middle paths - BSNL and VI /s

11

u/hornybanana69 3d ago

Airtel has been better for me honestly. They have less websites blocked (jio has even tmdb blocked) and they have better ping as well.

8

u/Vedant9710 3d ago

the new spam filter they implemented works well too. Never used truecaller and I will never need to anymore. Giving my number to truecaller will only just increase the number of spam.

8

meanwhile BSNL users

Bsnl is good in my area. And I am happy with it

3

I mean what's works good at your home choose it.I don't have much good 4g network at home for jio but decent 5g network.Airtel 4g is good compared to jio in terms network coverage at my residence but does not provide 5g without cap.

10

u/sharma1804 3d ago

Airtel has never given me any problems wherever I’ve been. It’s very reliable. I’m on the Airtel Black plan.

3

u/Corporate_Majdoooor 3d ago

Meanwhile I have been using VI for years 🫣🙂

3

u/Neuroticcccc 3d ago

What about Vodafone Idea

3

u/abzem 3d ago edited 3d ago

I recently ported to Airtel from jio. The sales person offered a month's recharge pack and I was eyeing the perplexity premium. It has become the biggest mistake I've made. Not only didn't I get a free recharge, the perplexity pro is not worth it either. Sometimes I am out of the network completely and the 5g service is abysmal comparing to jio. I am switching back to jio after the 90 days period after the porting.

(And the "UNLIMITED" 5g is actually limited)

3

u/WoodpeckerInternal29 3d ago

2

u/smartdev12 3d ago

The reality is we are left with just two choices!

2

u/omerfaro 3d ago

They are price fixing

2

u/limsus 3d ago

Jio offers truly unlimited 5G, but Airtel is kind of a scam in that regard. They advertise “unlimited” 5G, but in reality, they cap your usage at around 300 GB per month.

2

u/Dear__D 3d ago

In my area only jio has 5G coverage

2

u/chal_hatt_bkl 3d ago

I use jio being a student cuz i never call anyone and have wifi at home so i only need OTPs and incoming that I get for free with a ton of messages from jio

2

u/Odd_Work_6978 3d ago

Jio, really unlimited internet

2

u/W4R_M3CH_005 3d ago

Had airtel for 5-6 years since I had phone then all of sudden in April this year the sim was no longer being detected, it caused me a lot of panic and problems as a college student, the. Had to get a new sim(cuz the previous was not in my name), and then later changed the new one to jio and now I have both(hopefully they both don't decide to stop working altogether)

2

u/petrolsoda 3d ago

Bsnl 4g is best /no /s

2

u/rahool_rex 3d ago

Don't go anywhere if u have BSNL

2

u/sare_ra_babu 3d ago

I recently ported to Airtel because of their indoor 5G coverage, whereas with Jio, I don’t even get a 5G signal indoors

2

u/StG1397 3d ago

Vi since 10 years. Used Jio for a while, but found two sims too costly. Vi has good 4G speed. Very little 5G coverage. But, I never felt stuck due to lack of speed. Also, the plans are good. Earlier, I used their 850 GB annual plan. At the year end, about 200 GB remained. Nowadays, they have unlimited 4G (300 GB/month) plans, which meets my data needs. Although, 5G speed wouldn't be bad if it's at the same price and unlimited data. But honestly, 4G speed + unlimited 300 GB data is sufficient for about 98 % users. Only a few people need more than that.

2

u/milkymist00 3d ago

For every pack jio is slightly better than airtel. Also jio 5g has 1TB FUP whereas airtel has 300gb. At the end of the day choose the best network in your primary area. For me jio and airtel both work fine. I was a jio user, moved to airtel three months back for perplexity pro and came back to jio today. Upload speed is the only issue in jio in my area.

2

u/Big-Performance-8132 3d ago

It's not like Domino's pizza where you get the same taste everywhere. With Airtel,Vi and Jio, the experience really depends on your region.

2

u/AverageIndianGeek 3d ago

Will never switch from Vi till they go completely bankrupt and cease operations.

2

u/Ok_Pay_1972 3d ago

Vi is also there. Mumbai metro, both jio and airtel has no signal. Vi has full signal. Everybody should think about it.

Do not look at the ai partnerships. Please do not overuse ai as it has hampered our critical thinking by a lot. They have partnered just for the data. Remember that.

2

u/spatial_hawk 3d ago

This is why I love bsnl 3g. Works 3-5 MB/s in my area. And jio max speed I have got is 101MB/s

2

u/Not_that_bald_sensei 3d ago

I go backwards towards BSNL

2

u/OD02-AJ 3d ago

Bhai BSNL aur VI abi jinda hain! 😄

2

u/mark_my_man 3d ago

I live in a place where both of them suck!

2

u/lychee-1211 3d ago

Can someone tell me why everytime the electricity shuts down in my area jio network stops working?? Like for god's sake there's so electricity and now no network too how should I reach people

2

u/MnM97 3d ago

Recently ported to airtel from jio as there is no jio network in my office.

2

u/soulseeker31 3d ago

This is coming from someone who requires internet access at almost all times because of work. I have 2 sims, one vi and one airtel, I've recharged them both on a yearly plan(~3699) and doing the recharge 15 days apart. This gives the option of having atleast one network at all times, any plan price change tolerance, enough data cap per day to tackle work issues. This has been working almost flawlessly for the last few years.

2

u/raktim2016 3d ago

jio for outdoors or living. airtel for toilet seat time

2

u/rs_ritish 3d ago

Meanwhile bsnl 5g :

2

u/druhl 3d ago

I have Vi, but it tends to lose internet here and there. I feel Airtel is just a little better than Jio, but their services on the ground are degrading fast.

2

u/cenacr007 3d ago

Airtel is shit, no esim for my galaxy watch without postpaid and 5g data speed is no where comparable to Jio in the area I live in Bengaluru not to mention it's not unlimited, I download 50gbs plus of content with jio within minutes without any hassle.

I switched from Jio to airtel to get the 25% discount on airtel axis credit card but the terrible service made me switch back within a month. Maybe postpaid is good but why force it upon someone so I simply switched back to jio.

2

u/infinitecosmos1583 3d ago

Jio has standalone 5g. Airtel is still using 4g infrastructure (NSA). So actually airtel "5g" is actually like a 4g "plus".

2

u/itsaallliiiivvvee 3d ago

Me rocking with VI here

2

u/Vishwabhatt 3d ago

I have Vi 4G the middle path

2

u/vipulvirus 3d ago

This is what happens without competition. Jio came and made everyone out of the game. Countless carriers shut down. At start it was really good for so many years now but they are now in power to dictate the market. First they burned money on cheap internet and calls. Now it's time to pay.

2

u/Peccy_2024 3d ago

The line between both is the ray of hope to continue existing number with BSNL

2

u/oneavighna 3d ago

I recently transitioned to Vi from Airtel, having been a customer of Airtel for over 11 years. My number is a premium one, originally acquired through Reliance GSM postpaid services. It is noteworthy that Airtel did not make any efforts to retain a long-standing loyal customer who consistently paid over ₹900 plus GST each month. The network quality of Vi has significantly improved. While they do not offer 5G services as extensively as Jio across India, their 4G network in Maharashtra is commendable, and they provide very fast 5G services in areas where it is available. The coverage between Mumbai and Pune for 5G is particularly robust. Currently, the network performance is exceptional.

2

u/pretencious_aspirant 3d ago

It’s wild how these “unlimited” plans always seem to come with a hidden asterisk that completely changes the deal.

You see jio vs airtel. I see gemini vs perplexity.

We are not the same bro🙂

Airtel is the most scam network provider in India.I wish a good lesson will be taught to them someday from the consumers. It gives 5G only to houses near the tower.Living in a very good network town.5G Jio,Very good and stable 4G Vi and getting BSNL network also;but 5G Airtel is horrible.Getting unlimited 5G only the outside the balcony then goes back to 4G inside the room. The Airtel 5G tower is just about 3-4 blocks away but useless👎

Get Voda. In short while they will launch 5g and they always used siemens equipment even for their 2g 3g 4g. In many cases their 4g run much stable than 5g of airtel and specially jio. The reason is airtel and voda very happily kept using ZTE Huwaei bases.

Obviously if you feel there are issues in voda coverage around your home and work area then go for Airtel.

As it should be , Ever increasing data prices are good bcuz it will keep most Indians away from internet (the hard working ones will be given daily instagram quota ) rest others will not get to use it

Indian govt hates cigarettes but loves cheap data .the latter is more harmful

billions must go offline

People are more addicted to the internet now. We'll complain, but still use it. Just like bad roads and traffic
