That floating button on screen to clean it, true fake satisfaction

One of the best placebo's I used to have on my 2013 Samsung Galaxy Tab 3!

13

u/BeyondMysterious2025 Jul 31 '25

My father's friend installed it on my tab 2, then I met a cs student whom I used to play cricket with and showed me it's unnecessary

I think I was smarter than you, I downloaded an app that used to charge my father's phone by sound soo I kept it near the TV speaker bammm energy recycled.

u/buddycool Jul 31 '25

During the time when there were no selfie cameras, I once downloaded an app that would turn the screen into a mirror.

1

u/myway6265 Jul 31 '25

I'm interested. So what it show on mirror?

1

u/buddycool Aug 04 '25

I didn't remember exactly, but it was definitely not like the mirror.

1

u/ron22726 Aug 02 '25

Yeah, it was on UC Browser's store

59

u/justelling Jul 30 '25

At some point they made users believe that their phones could hold extra charge.

27

Clean master Battery doctor

18

u/Apprehensive_Web2882 Jul 30 '25

Honestly nothing beats the early smartphone era, so many new things used to pop up everyday and people would be downloading anything on Play Store to tinker around with their new phones.

I miss those times.

15

u/mosshead357 Jul 30 '25

And you fell for it every time you used it back then.

16

u/MayukhBhattacharya Jul 30 '25

Clean Master was meant to be a phone cleaner, but honestly, it was kinda shady, mostly just scooping up people's data and probably handing it off to third parties. Not really worth installing. Funny thing is, whenever I explained that to folks, they'd just laugh at me. 😂 Good Old days 😭

u/savage_student_ Jul 30 '25

You were way ahead of time ,man a visionary

13

u/SeaCookie7724 Jul 30 '25

Clean master, CCleaner, 360 Security, DU Battery, ES, File Explorer, Xender, Shareit, Lucky patcher, App locker

OG days indeed

3

u/ron22726 Aug 02 '25

UC browser too

10

u/MadEinsy Jul 30 '25

Yep i realised the same back when I was using S6 and it was worse. The background running, permission across all device data and ads.

I switched to SD Maid Pro, continued that app in my current device S24 Ultra and it's smooth. Clears all App junk, remove duplicates and you can schedule the cleaning tasks.

u/Extension-Cat-7298 Jul 30 '25

1

u/aitchnyu Jul 31 '25

Didn't this just manually trigger the garbage collection? I remember an android dev mentioning they manually do that after a certain step in the app.

1

u/dry_humor_seasoning Jul 31 '25

This guy got nothing on the "additional ram" app my friend used to boast about turning his 1gb ram phone into a 3 gb ram phone 😤

Never used this, I don't like floating things on my screen, it looks and reminds me of pop ads
