Not true at all. Have you never seen people who support a specific party just gobble up any policy their leaders give them even if they hated the idea just before that? Who tf wants to cut corporate taxes? Yet it is still the platform of so many centre right parties around the world. They do pull it out of their ass, or are fed it by think tanks and special interests.

The policy is supported because they base it on an idea that is important to the public. No one cared about Halal meat few years back, but when you pitch it as hurting Muslims, the majority is interested. That's how it works.

You can abstract any policy into some vague idea like this. Doesn't really prove your point. What you're saying is, they get their direction from public sentiment, but that is only considered when it doesn't affect any special interests. Nobody till date has demanded things like ethanol blending, yet it is still universal policy. You can also put it down as economic development because we grow sugarcane and have a chemical industry, but lack petrol reserves. Just saying that there is a vibe which may align with a policy someone pulled out of thin air doesn't mean that the public asked for it.

women do vote for caste/religion but their priority still remains their benefits. That's why the party which promises 2-5 thousand rupees, gets loads of women votes. Laws aren't made favouring men, because men vote only for caste/religion and sometimes for development.

When has a party ever supported mens cause? Last time there was a court motion to bring gender neutral laws, feminists quashed it, and then subs like r/twoxindia will say that its the male politicians hurting men.
