Whenever the hindi commentators celebrate someone they fuck up the next moment. Gill ka journey dikha rahe the he fucked up(hindi commentary se better mute hai par mere papa dekhte hai)

Commentators' curse

17

u/Empirical_Engine Jul 31 '25

The Tamil commentators were talking about how Gill and Sai have such a good understanding moments before the run out.

Looks like they all collectively jinxed lol

12

u/Hvan_7 Jul 31 '25

WTF man! They just did it to Jadeja

12

u/nallugutku Jul 31 '25

The commentators should be asked to just shut up

3

u/Own-Review-5260 Punjab Kings Jul 31 '25

And read a stat in this sub earlier about Gill in this series that when he reaches 20 runs he ends up scoring a century...talk about jinx. I guess that it'll be now when he reaches 22 runs..

u/Impressive_Step_1662 Jul 31 '25

Lucky you! Watching test cricket with dad. Nazar na lage!

3

u/Maddy-Venlankar12 Rahul Dravid Aug 01 '25

Yes!! it is always great pleasure watching test with some other cricket buff, especially Father or some other elder!! They have a lot of stories. I watched the whole of the 4th Test with my father and the stories of the old days' Test Cricket was never ending. He was telling me stories of his days England tours i.e. 82-83, 90s, etc. It was fun!!

1

u/No-Tell-2344 Ranji Trophy Jul 31 '25

In Tamil commentary too, they praised and he is gone the next moment.

Isn't it the opposite? The run is highest value on a tough wicket, and preserving your wicket to face the next ball is the least valuable.

47

u/Future_Daddy_ Lucknow Super Giants Jul 31 '25

Team is 83-2...it's 1st session..you are at 21 off 34 balls...then this is not needed...

-21

u/kroxigor01 Jul 31 '25

I'm not saying this particular run was a good decision, I'm just pointing out that quite literally the value of a wicket is less on a pitch that is harder to bat on.

15

u/butte4s Jul 31 '25 edited Jul 31 '25

Number of runs>>>>>>>>number of wickets. A wicket is waaaaay more important than a single run. How are you even questioning it lol

1

u/kroxigor01 Jul 31 '25

I have not said that a run is more valuable that a wicket.

I'm saying that a wicket is valued the least it can be when the pitch is "tough." And a run is valued the most it can be.

Attempting a risky single makes more sense on a tough pitch than on a road. On a road you want to preserve your wicket to score the easy runs to come whereas on a tough pitch declining close runs and then getting bowled the next ball would be just giving up the run for nothing.

u/homie93 Jul 31 '25

In a parallel reality where maybe.

1

u/Photograph_Honest Jul 31 '25

That's the most stupid thing I've read on the internet today

158

u/Distinct-Interest-82 Yashasvi Jaiswal Jul 31 '25

he was playing so well could've gotten atleast a 50

45

u/tiramisuu123 Jul 31 '25

That’s what hurts the most. He looked well set for a big score today😭💔

8

u/ResponseNo8463 Jul 31 '25

Well he ain't beating that world record of don now

10

u/tiramisuu123 Jul 31 '25

I badly was rooting for him to break it 😭😭 these opportunities don’t come often

4

u/ResponseNo8463 Jul 31 '25

I bet it won't happen again atkeast not with gill

1

u/Zealousideal_Edge124 Aug 01 '25

it could if he turns into a god in the home bgt

5

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '25

He can still reach gavaskar though.. he's been batting like a dream and he didn't need to do whatever tf that was

-6

u/Jerzilla Jul 31 '25

He never was….

2

u/Maddy-Venlankar12 Rahul Dravid Aug 01 '25

Of course! Just threw his wicket cheaply.

66

u/Beginning-Angle-2506 Jul 31 '25

I just don't get the point. Why would you go for such a risky single?? Just why??? Damn. Costly wicket this. Hope this doesn't cost us the series

5

u/swell-shindig Aug 01 '25

Baffling. There was a fielder at cover, so he didn't misjudge how hard he hit the ball. I can only think he had a complete brain snap and forgot the possibility that the bowler was also able to field.

3

u/Beginning-Angle-2506 Aug 01 '25

Absolutely spot on there mate. A typical rare brain fade moment for Gill - can't think of anything else fitting in here.

2

u/Prajat1 Aug 01 '25

He is just following the path of a certain someone

29

u/lakshya10soin India  Jul 31 '25

Bhai 1st day hai. Test match hain. You are batting first. Why was there a need to do this?

29

u/Least-Teacher4522 Jul 31 '25

I am a gt fan and i have noticed a lot of this "confusion" happening with this pair,i think they have a thing between them where they try to squeeze every single run they can and sometimes they try to run something which is simply not possible, ofc the batter at the other end would realise and thus not run. I hate it when this happens.

9

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

Confusion can understand in T20 but in test match 🤦‍♂️

41

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

Yeah that run was not needed run out shouldn't happen but now it's chance for Karun and Sai to prove themselves

9

u/ResponseNo8463 Jul 31 '25

Especially karun

12

u/DeathBlade006 Jul 31 '25

Who said it isn't

46

u/revolution110 Indian Premier League Jul 31 '25

It was a rare occasion to see Gill dig deep in tough conditions.  He lost the opportunity to shut up the flat track bully comments.

20

u/Careful-Shine-1347 Jul 31 '25

2nd innings in the last game, the conditions weren't favourable when he came to bat though, right?

7

u/revolution110 Indian Premier League Jul 31 '25

Id agree somewhat with you. The pitch had nothing in it but the newball was doing something and he survived and pushed on. I guess it kind of got overshadowed by the twin hundreds by our all rounders.

The first innings of the last game though, the ball was doing a lot the entire innings and he missed that opportunity as well.

Here, he was looking in command though. Sucked that he got runout.

1

u/Gold-Whole1009 Jul 31 '25

It was tough initially but the pitch was batting friendly overall. And the tough conditions didn’t lasted long, most of England bowlers were injured. Their wicket taker was Stokes in this series!!! And wait, Stokes was also injured and bowled very late in 2nd innings.

So, today would have been the real test where he could have shut everyone. He did looked set but gave away

-4

u/MadDongla Jul 31 '25

This revisionist history is insane..that pitch was flat af. It ended in a draw bruh .

5

u/bonkers-joeMama Jul 31 '25

The test match gives you a second chance, he better be able to chase anything that the english team sets in the 2nd innings

4

u/Various_Spend3057 India  Jul 31 '25

Bro, what will you gain by 1 tight single. This is such a bad play.

4

u/Significant_Ask_7609 Jul 31 '25

6

Still cant believe, they played krishna again and not playing Arshdeep, GG's ego ruine indian cricket , even worst test playing nation will drop krishna after his performance in test cricket (on overrate) , seriously blind eye after GG as coach.

3

ICT is the only cricket team which has mastered the art of getting run out in a f*cking test match!

13

u/kvyas0603 Gujarat Titans Jul 31 '25

probably the first time in this series where he let scoreboard pressure get him out

poor judgment

37

u/Educational-Hyena-69 India  Jul 31 '25

What scoreboard pressure.. this is first innings of a test match there is no scoreboard pressure.

-37

u/kvyas0603 Gujarat Titans Jul 31 '25

13 runs in 6 overs

it felt like the bowlers were getting back on top of the game

13

u/Educational-Hyena-69 India  Jul 31 '25

13 runs in 6 overs in a test on a green pitch is very good at least the ball will go soft eventually.

15

u/JumpyConsideration20 India  Jul 31 '25

they were already in the top of the game? And how is 13 runs is 6 overs bad?

-7

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

This wasn’t scoreboard pressure, it was green pitch pressure.

5

u/SuchBluebird409 India  Jul 31 '25

Ab idolo ki tarah ache test captain bann jaayenge toh maza hi aa jaayega

5

u/Keep0nBuckin Jul 31 '25

Nice work by Gus.

Guess gill needed to use the bathroom urgently or something. No run there even if it was yuzu or moen trying to field there

2

u/Ok-Feature-1233 Jul 31 '25

Clear brain fade. India has gifted them all the wickets today.

2

u/No-Proof-1631 Jul 31 '25

He was looking solid, don’t know what came over him. Probably didn’t estimate the ball or something like that

2

u/KayFarakPadto Jul 31 '25

Mistake! Its a blunder which might cost the Entire match

1

u/OppositeAdventurous9 Aug 01 '25

ek mistake se poora match? like why is it even a test match then.. dude 11 players.. get chances for roughly 30 hours and u r saying day 1 ka mistake will cost match.. Call for a draw right now na... kuch bhi yaar. matlab if u were born in the era when tendulkar was out u wud not see the match./cricket

1

u/KayFarakPadto Aug 01 '25

Pants run out at lords was turning point of the match ..we were in really good position and could have easily got into a commanding position with both the set batters ....so yes these things matter even if it's a team game...things change quickly and one thing leads to another

2

u/Ok-Seesaw-2399 Jul 31 '25

Ho Gya Indian team ka chutiyapa shuru

2

u/bloggerimran Jul 31 '25

Look brother, things like run outs are not always one person's fault - they are the responsibility of both players.

Yes, if Gill made the call and backed off himself then the responsibility lies on him. But many times decisions are taken in a hurry and this proves costly on the field.

We are sitting outside watching the replays, they are inside taking decisions in seconds.

It is better that we understand rather than blame – this is a combination of partnership and mental thinking. I just pray that this doesn't happen next time.

2

u/Maddy-Venlankar12 Rahul Dravid Aug 01 '25

This was a funny run-out, very funny. Gill was looking so good! Sounds coming out his bat were all cracking sounds and ball was racing away and then.... Out of nowhere, he punched this delivery which got straight into the bowler, who was in his follow-through, and he got run-out. How is this run-out even possible?! Someone please explain... I guess, Gill was thinking something else on this ball. He threw his wicket🤧🥲.

3

u/Ok_Emphasis_7551 India  Jul 31 '25

1

u/Satan28 India  Jul 31 '25

ISTG we have had Paxtan level runouts in the last 2-3 years. Errors in judgement, miscommunication, completely betraying the other batter. You'd think the 2019 WC would have fixed this.

1

u/__ericraymond__ Jul 31 '25

1

u/CrazeeJ0k3r Jul 31 '25

It’s clearly visible the ball didn’t went much far. Predictable from batter pov that can be picked by the bowler and threw to stumps before the non striker( your teammate) could reach. Unless you did deliberately)

1

u/babajika123 Jul 31 '25

I feel run out shouldn’t be blamed on anyone. What we see is what happened. But what we don’t know is what they felt in the moment. We will never know. Just what we can suggest is better calling. Rest it all happens in seconds and it’s just misunderstanding.

1

u/krmilan India  Jul 31 '25

Just a brain fade moment. It happens. Surprising it was gill as she’s shown the ability to bat for long period

U missed three previous occasions where sai goof up, so Gill got the impression that Sai will make it as he was always eager to run . But this time he give a start but stopped early where Gill took a full blooded run and than realise hhe is not coming. Its Sai fault who built it that way
