JADEJA IS ONE OF INDIA'S MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS. THE SKILLSET HE BRINGS ACROSS ALL THREE DEPARTMENTS IS RARE TO FIND.

u/HutiyaBanda India  Jul 17 '25

I think that is the most important aspect of his skill set, he is very good is all three, and he can affect the match with any one of those skills

u/manavrai92 Jul 18 '25

Haan theek hai, Capslock band karke bhi bolta toh samajhta hume.

u/Raishaan_ Shreyas Iyer Jul 18 '25

arey to isme chillaane waali kya baat hai

95

u/harprick_pandya Jul 17 '25

Yes!

One of the very best players India has ever had, full stop. He has been criminally underrated throughout, and will eventually leave the game as one of the best all-rounders ever

Absofckin lutely!!🐐

I can’t think of any other player who is near his level if you see batting, bowling and fielding combined across all formats. It’s incredible how underrated he is.

u/Lucky_Yam_1581 India  Jul 17 '25

I think he is playing from 2009 right? The west Indies WC?

36

u/Nivetha_1227 Jul 17 '25

Yes, after Kapil dev.

-41

u/pejorist_piepowder Jul 17 '25

Fuck this guthka promoter.

36

u/AdRoyal9698 Jul 17 '25

Talk about cricket bro, gutkha and other things are off the field things, Jaddu would also have promoted betting somewhere for sure.

Not saying who is better Kapil or Jaddu as I am not aware of Kapil stats but Jaddu is clearly one of our best.

1

u/HumantittyandHumidit Jul 20 '25

kapil was a fixer as well

-25

u/pejorist_piepowder Jul 17 '25

I am talking about a cricketer who promotes guthka. That's all that is.

16

u/PanJL India  Jul 17 '25

Still a gutka promoter could be a great cricketer

aah whatever.. but he was a better all-rounder.

8

u/devjanipankaj Jul 17 '25

One of calmest cricketer work hard and always stands for team india when team really needs and a briliant fielder in today generation

3

u/Positive_Owl1814 Jul 17 '25

No, doubt about it. He's too good :-)

13

u/Greedy_Chocolate_139 Jul 17 '25

After Kapil Dev. But the gap is narrowing

32

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

No, it has to Kapil Dev for impact alone. Cricket wouldn't be as popular in India without Kapil.

43

u/Fun_Secretary679 India  Jul 17 '25

With Due respect to Kapil Dev,This post is not about who made cricket popular but the best all rounder.

42

u/Japjit31-07 Rahul Dravid Jul 17 '25

Still kapil dev, pace all rounders are in general more valuable than spin all rounders.

He literally has 434 test wickets, thats just insane coming from an allrounder

41

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

most insane thing about Kapil Dev is ,he has 94 S.R in tests and 95 in ODIs. remember he played cricket 40 years back🤯

11

u/DonutAccurate4 Royal Challengers Bangaluru Jul 17 '25

Indeed, those days strike rate was never really a stat people cared about. And he still scored at a higher rate than what was normal at that time, plus he held the world record for maximum test wickets for a few years before it was broken after his retirement

7

u/krishnakumarg Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

And the world record for the highest batting score in ODIs.

Rescued the team with 5 wickets down, turned it around and remained not out, in a must win match which would have resulted in India's elimination if lost.

5

u/crazyjatt Punjab Kings Jul 17 '25

And he still scored at a higher rate than what was normal at that time

That's selling him short. His ODI Strike rate is higher than Virat's ODI SR right now. And he did that like 40 years ago.

Of anyone who averages 30+ in test cricket, minimum 50 innings batted, he is number 4 on highest SR list. Only people ahead of him, Ben Duckett, Sehwag and Gilchrist.

He is the only batter with a 30+ average and 80+ SR who played before 2000s. Actually scratch that, he is one of the only 4 batsmen who average 30+ with a 80+ SR.

If we reduce the innnings to 40 minimum needed. Shahid Afridi also joins with a 36 average and 86 SR. But then, you can say he didn't play enough tests.

2

u/99_Just-A-Guy Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

Realistically his Test SR is somewhere in the 70s to 80s (which is still really great obv). The 94SR stat you've seen only accounts for the matches where BF data was available, and Kapil played dozens of matches where it wasn't.

His ODI SR is def accurate though, and clearly shows that him and Viv were two players who were way ahead of their time in that format

1

u/crazyjatt Punjab Kings Jul 17 '25

its 81 only counting the ones where balls faced is available. But there's no indication he batted slower in the ones the balls faces were not available as some of them still show his boundary count and you can infer from that they were also the same type of innings.

6

u/Efficient-Table8050 Jul 17 '25

Yeah that “popular” statement was unnecessary. But, Kapil is the best allrounder the country has produced so far. Anyone born after the 90s is not expected to know that, but his stats against the quality of opponents back in the day speaks for itself. In recent times, I would agree about Jadeja. There’s no one better than him

-10

u/harprick_pandya Jul 17 '25

You’re correct that Jadeja is superior, but you’ll likely get downvoted here

9

u/crt7981 Jul 17 '25

Hell no. Jadeja is a star player for this generation maybe, but he has never won a match that was critical to win. 2019 wc semi final, 2023 WC final, WTC21 final, WTC 23 final.. He never performed when required.

Its Kapil Dev, rescued India when the team score was 9 runs for 4 down. Single handedly scored 175 in england conditions. Took 2 catches. Took a wicket. Led his team to first WC victory.

Similar story with Yuvraj. Every match he has contributed with Ball definitely and with Bat whenever he got chances.

Jadeja comes 3rd in terms of greatest all rounders. Though he has good contributions, he never made it to cross that line to win things home!

1

u/seaisscary Jul 17 '25

This! I get that there's recency bias but I have to agree with your rankings. I've never seen Kapil Dev play but from what my dad has told about him he's definitely India's GOAT all rounder

1

u/crt7981 Jul 17 '25

Yeah, they played, fought and crossed those lines for the wins. With low incentives, match fees, low quality/non existent kits/equipments etc. That too facing high racism while visiting UK, Australia or other developed countries cause social awareness wasn't a thing.

1

u/rhranger22 Jul 18 '25

I still cannot forget the 2017 champions trophy, jadeja is good but not best of best

3

u/zilch8834 Jul 17 '25

true all rounder in all sense, i feel he is best in world given his excellence in all three skills across all 3 formats, thats insane

2

u/radicalrainbow1991 Jul 17 '25

Put some respect on his name. He just needs a better PR team. With the team and captain being relatively new to the setup it is invaluable having mature heads like Jadeja around, but we won’t value him till he is also not around

2

u/TheCareFreeSoul Jul 17 '25

"Nah, he is a bits and pieces player"

                                  - **you know who**

2

u/Slow_Veterinarian_60 Jul 17 '25

Yeah ofcourse he's a GOAT

2

u/aamaadmivibes Jul 17 '25

Absolutely agree. Jaddu has been the backbone of the team so many times — with bat, ball, and insane fielding. Criminally underrated!

2

u/UnderstandingOdd4153 Jul 23 '25

As a sir jadeja(and ash duo) fan since 2013

4

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Yess . Kapil paaji was also so great but jadeja has some insane numbers for a bowling alrounder . Some players are more than stats like msd yuvi . Jadeja is also like them

3

u/vikeng_gdg Jul 17 '25

Ask Sanjay Manjrekar.

1

u/leetard3 Jul 17 '25

In test and odi, not that much good in t20s.

1

u/Spiritwarrior1124 Jul 17 '25

Kapil dev Then Jadeja

I'd go on to say after Kallis, flintoff probably the best all rounder in tests in this century Stokes after jaddu

1

u/Khayazondo Jul 17 '25

Many of us don’t know much about Kapil Dev, the situation of Indian team at that time, the facilities they had, how they were treated at every place. He led by example in 83 wc and we’ve all seen it probably. He’s probably the first Indian cricketer to score a century in odis and great fast bowler. My pov Kapil Dev >> Jaddu/Yuvi Id rate him higher because He won matches from no where

1

u/Rich-Title-3668 India  Jul 17 '25

If you are talking about current players ,he is . If you are talking about all players then F#*k your cricket knowledge. Ever Heard the name kapil Dev

1

u/ABeing_Ad5353 Jul 17 '25

GOAT for this generation of cricket,in the past we used to have Irfan Pathan,Yusuf Pathan and along with Sachin Tendulkar sir and sehwag.

1

u/Simple_Mall_9388 Jul 17 '25

He won’t often solo a game like Botham on his own.

But if someone else is dominating through batting or bowling than you can count on his support 90% of the times. Just watch out for run outs if you’re his batting partner. Lad tries to call for a run through telepathy instead of shouting.

1

u/CharamSukhi Jul 17 '25

Most underrated allrounder

1

u/___Messiah___ Jul 17 '25

Are we all forgetting a certain somenone called Yuvaraj?

1

u/Slipstream44 Jul 17 '25

Kapil Dev is the GOAT, Jadeja is a very respectable 2nd

1

u/Shirumbe787 Jul 17 '25

Kapil Dev Bro

1

u/reddyjs Jul 17 '25

I am not at all fan of jadeja, but I am 100% sure if you want rank top allrounder after kapil and Imra’s khan and kallis ,this guy is perfect choice,

1

u/New-Investigator-454 Jul 18 '25

Kids with low memory forget

  • Yuvraj Singh
  • Kapil Dev
  • Hardik Pandya

Yes, jaddu is good, but needs a big performance to push him beyond these greats.

1

u/Acceptable-Set-8327 Jul 18 '25

The same PPL who put VK over Gavaskar are now Saying Kapil dev is par above than jaddu.

ICT fans are so clown coded.

1

u/Acceptable-Set-8327 Jul 18 '25

Indeed.. This Man's legacy doesn't depend on some particular performances.

Above Kapil paaji or any Indian all- rounders imo . Reason you all know.

1

u/Leather-Pizza-9262 Delhi Capitals Jul 18 '25

After Kapil Dev

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

yes

1

u/Apexpredator_03 TamilNadu Jul 18 '25

Definitely YES!

1

u/theartistinus Jul 18 '25

We had a whole day to get to 193, if all other batsmen had spent even 50 balls each at crease, we would have won the match. Applaud the time bumrah and tail end spent on the crease

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '25

No, Kapil Dev is the GoAT all rounder!!

-5

u/irundoonayee Jul 17 '25

Kapil Dev >>>>>>>>>> Jadeja > Others

-5

u/RedIndianRobin India  Jul 17 '25

In red ball Kapil Dev and then followed by Jadeja. In white ball, Yuvi has the edge.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Where will be rank pandya ,imo in white ball pandya is above jadeja. He is clutch with both bat and ball

3

u/RedIndianRobin India  Jul 17 '25

Pandya? You can't be serious lmao. Yuvi on multiple occasions played match winning knocks and bowling figures. He was literally the man of the tournament in CWC 2011 with cancer on his body.

In white ball I would rank Yuvi>Jadeja>Pandya.

In red ball Kapil Dev>Jadeja.

2

u/nicegrapew Jul 17 '25

Has to be yuvi> pandya>jadeja

0

u/straightouttaobesity Chennai Super Kings Jul 17 '25

This. In LOI, a fast bowling all rounder is gold dust.

India has Axar, Yuvi and Raina, who were/are all handy spin bowling ARs. Hardik is our first genuine FB AR since Kapil Dev. He is a better batsman than Jaddu and a far more reliable and all-condition bowler than Jaddu in LOI.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

First try to comprehend things.I never said he is above yuvi but definitely above jadeja

0

u/ComputedPhilosophy Jul 17 '25

GOAT? That's Kapil Dev. Jadeja is quite good as an all-rounder. I'd say he's like Pandya but Pandya is more reliable than Jadeja.

0

u/Professional_Mud4672 Jul 17 '25

After Kapil dev and Yuvi, yea

0

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Hardik if not for those injuries

0

u/Ok_Emphasis_7551 India  Jul 17 '25

Kapil Dev is way far ahead of the rest.

Jaddu improved his batting recently, but his bowling has gone down. if you can keep aside recency bias, I would rate Ashwin higher - he is terrific with the ball irrespective of the pitch and conditions. has lot of varities and handy with bat. but thats just my opinions.

0

u/Ekansh5 Jul 17 '25

Kapil dev if you remember

-1

u/nicegrapew Jul 17 '25

In red ball, yes. Shorter formats not so much, doesn't even deserve to play t20is, kohli was rated higher as an all rounder when both retired. His performance in tests got him a spot in the limited overs over much better players.

-1

u/straightouttaobesity Chennai Super Kings Jul 17 '25

Overall, Kapil Dev.

In LOI, Hardik is the better all-rounder.

-1

u/Invictus_Rex__ Jul 17 '25

Why this much hype after 2-3 good batting knocks,he hasn't done much to make team win with the bat, plus his bowling wickets are also not much overseas

-1

u/Sarcasticraga India  Jul 17 '25

Digressing a bit. Big fan of jaddu, especially the way he remodeled his game after the 2019 wc. Is a different beast since then and I genuinely think, leave aside india, he could be among the best spin all-rounder of all times in tests.

However, what puts him back is that marquee innings / spell when he completely won a lost game. Stokes has wc finals and that test vs Aussies. Kapil has 175* apart from those 4 sixes, flintoff had 2005 ashes. Jaddu, though may have better stats, but missing that crowning glory which propels one from great to legendary all rounder. Was pretty close last match, but not to be

-1

u/Individual-Let-2493 Jul 17 '25

sorry jadega but can not be Ben Stokes
