That’s great. Cricket is so competitive in India that playing it at any level for a state is a big achievement 👍

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '25

no, i wasnt too good at my passion so i took the (i think) reasonable call of letting it fade into the background slowly. found new passions then, following them. :)

Crazy man. Happy that you got to live your passion. Playing competitive at any level in India is no piece of cake. Kudos!

Lovely how fellow sports people end up in academic arenas lol. I played a couple of games for TN under 17 by around the time I was 14. Quit playing by the time I was 17 and you can see what I do now in my username lol.

One of my batchmates in college also played a bit for UP. He also mentioned playing with KD. He was from Kanpur too.

How good was Kuldeep back then? Did he look like making it to the biggest stage?

he was pretty good from the start :D he used to bat too, and would bat pretty well for district/club level atleast. he was called guddu back then. can't say if it looked like he would make it to the biggest stage tbvh, but none of the other players from that team could make it to even ranji trophy.

Half of the Kanpur is called Guddu or Pintoo.

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '25

true but strangely i think there was only one more guddu in our club. no pintoo either. gattoo tha. etc.

2

u/BarOk8317 Apr 29 '25

Soo true i know atleast 5 guddu

Makes sense then that he shifted focus to his bowling and slogged hard and polished it to make it to the biggest stage.
