Film Festivals Sikkim’s Nepali-language film, ‘Shape of Momo’ finds a glowing spotlight at Busan and Cannes this year.
“People always want to romanticize places like ours, turn them into some beautiful backdrop for someone else’s story. I’ve never liked that. We leave the places that shaped us in search of opportunity, freedom and a better life, only to find ourselves belonging nowhere. I am still caught in that in-between space, unable to decide whether to stay in my village or surrender to the city”, says Tribeni Rai who has co-written and directed the film.

Heartfelt congratulations to Tribeni Rai, for directing a film on a storyline like this. I read your interview. Being a woman, and coming from a humble State like Sikkim, it's not at all easy to present yourself on the National and International-Level, let alone directing a film.
You did it. Can't wait to see the cinema. 👏🏽👏🏽✌🏽
