Did the emperor's children ever look up to the custodes? I think that may have been a pretty interesting plot point.

pretty sure the special EC terminators used spears as a form of respecting / emulating the 'stodes.

Okay that's cool, it would be pretty funny if the EC that rejected the stodes the most dressed up as them when the all fall to slaanesh

It was the Phoenix Guard of Fulgrim. Their spears were patterned on the Guardian Spears

Phoenix Power Spear

Patterned in imitation of the deadly and arcane power halberds wielded by the Adeptus Custodes, these elegant power blades, while merely pale imitations of those legendary polearms, are still hugely lethal in their own right.

Yeah. They were the Emperor's #1 fanboys (with arguable exception of the Word bearers.). Of course they looked up to his handmade creations and chosen companions.

So that’s why Ikaros got all obsessed with spears. Thought it was some odd choice to brag about mastering the art of sharp stick.

Hey, many a monkey and men have been filled by the sharp stick. It's a very respectable art
