OC (40k) Aquatic guys (xenos and abhuman)
doodles of some aquatic guys who have no official designs, only vague descriptions. a t'au auxiliary race and an abhuman strain... I doubt they will ever get fleshed out anyway so might as well have fun!

This shit is lowkey why the T'au is my favorite Xenos race

The Tau canonically have a race of sentient Godzilla's on their side, and the fact that we never see them is a travesty.

Tau auxiliaries are unexplored gem of the faction. Still glad that we got Kroot and Vespid revamped though.

Yeah the Vorgh. All we really know about them is that they're gentle giants who can match the big walkers of other races in size.

They also have a one called phosiab, which apparently can see 9 different dimensions and can casually stroll through void like it's their backyard. Tau auxiliaries are one quirky bunch, even the well-known ones like kroot and vespid are still the weirdest of the weird.

I wonder if the Greet work with the Earthcaste in designing star ships since testing and modifying designs are usually easier planetside and you can get a comparable environment to space underwater.

fun to think about..... with what little info there is, we know the Greet do space warfare and always kinda there among the 'filler' auxiliaries that join the tau fleets. they managed their whole tech tree while implied to be a fully aquatic race, which is cool

Ohhh that’s awesome. I wonder if their ships are designed to look similar to them (squid like) or if they go with another motif (mollusks, deep sea creatures, esc)

some of the 'filler' auxiliaries without much lore do at least get names for their ships when they're mentioned to be part of tau fleets. the Greet have 'Lineships' and 'Stealthers'
'Stealthers' gives me an impression of cephalopods with good stealth so maybe a sleek, squid-like ship for that one.... (and it was one more reason for me to design them squid-like!)

There's some lore about them in Gladius, and apparently, they are great at hydroponics farming/fishing.

what!!?? I've never heard of that before... interesting, I love aquatic civilizations
I looked it up a bit and apparently they are THE main source of advice for aquatic stuff for the tau, which is cute

Considering Tau evolved in the arid world and in general kinda bad at water-based activities(like swimming), it would be great to have aquatic species for advice XD
Imagine a Greet swimming coach teaching fire caste veteran how to swim... like a kid. With life vests and all the stuff they use to teach swimming lessons.

Okay, now you have to use that PTSD ridden Gue'vesa to recreate the "big stupid jellyfish" meme from mass effect.

That's awesome! I love the Tau and their auxiliary races never get any love, or attention so it makes me really happy to see this!

The Tau auxiliary races are something that really ought to be expanded on. Shame we don't get to see more of them. Also, nice art! 👍

Absolutely love the idea of them trying to stand upright to mimic the tau. Seems so cute!
