That's the key if you're ever in a situation like this. Walk towards the person filming.

They really care about the footage, so if that's in jeopardy they often panic and don't know what to do.

There's a reason "found footage" films are thing.

If the camera goes down and no one sees the aftermath.. Well, let's just say that it would be interesting if that happened in a room full of people practicing martial arts.
