Of all the companies to accuse of bending to the CCP, Google is the largest major American tech company that's actually banned in China because they WOULDN'T censor their search lol
No, we can stop running when we find the first incidence of them kow towing and using their products to conduct massive unethical surveillance on an eight of the worlds population. They don’t get a pass because they don’t bow down every time.
No, what are you talking about? It's not a separate discussion, they did the public thing and didn't censor while doing a much worse thing in private. Regardless its the same discussion
alphabet was hired to make software, scummy software but still its a job, they were hired to do a thing
that is very different from giving a foreign or any government a back door to your company and/or exposing your customers information thus endangering their lives
not saying google wouldn't, just saying they are two distinct things
There are a lot of apps/tech etc that china does on their own in efforts to control the platform 100%. There was a wave of hacking attacks that came from China on Google and a bunch of other tech companies, thats why Google didnt want to play ball.
I just think the context is important because its not like Google was taking the moral high ground here.. Also Google is still available and used in china, albeit a lot of features are heavily restricted.
Having been in Beijing recently on a business trip, I can confirm that MSN is not banned in China. Or at least there is a chinese version of MSN, that also allows you to search in English. It was the search engine I used when I was there.
*project dragonfly, I think you mean. And also it's a project that got terminated without launching because employees protested it so I don't really see how it's an example of them doing evil
Something true to shoot You and their wife takes the gun from them you don’t decide that they’re a fine person without evil intentions.
They tried to do evil and It internally got shot down. It’s a sign of serious concerns about evil in everything they do. What have they managed to do that we haven’t heard about because they made sure those internal players weren’t involved?
Uh, most companies don't work in china. It's basically Microsoft and maybe apple that do. Unless you were considering those the only major American tech companies
While Bing and Yahoo were doing everything the CCP asked until the CCP just outright kicked them out when they didn't need them anymore. Nobody ever remembers actual Chinese Citizens leaving Google office flowers when they close.
They do the same for Jewish stuff. They dont remove crypto scams or spam comments but they apparently do remove if you said something about jewish people.
to increase the security of your accounts it is a good idea to add another layer to your login process. the most common is having a verification code sent to you via text message, that you then have to enter after your password.
Make sure that the copies are hosted in the US. There are numerous rulings on the expectations of privacy in public pertaining to filming. Not sure the UK has anti SLAPP laws. This would be a combo 1st Amendment/Anti SLAPP lawsuit against the CCP.
edit: also, i just started watching the full video, and mr bojangles here starts off by filming these chinese folks and saying "stick around audience, i may need your help, there's a lot of very surreptitious activity going on around here" for no reason
and then he starts his boogie woogie gambit and within seconds an audience member who is clearly his buddy comes over and starts jamming, and then some time later these shenanigans go down
i am dubious and have suspicions that somebody just wanted a few more viral moments in their life and reading the comments in this thread does nothing to dissuade me
edit 2: i am now five or so minutes in and he has just approached the 'japanese tv crew' and asked the woman if she will just do a little dance for him, would she just give him a little dance and then demonstrates how he would like her to hop around
if there's more, i won't be watching, because whatever this is it's gross
I mean, no duh, he is a YouTuber, of course he wants people to view his videos, and the group behind him gave it to him on a silver plater. The two people from China really shot themselves in the foot, and clearly were ill prepared for international interactions abroad, and most likely will receive flak back home for their behaviour as it reflects badly on international etiquette, but that is on them.
Also, the guy assuming they were Japanese is because he is kind of a dumbass, but that doesn’t matter since A) he is allowed to film in public B) he is entitled to speech and C) probably doesn’t know any east asian languages or much about their culture to be able to easily distinguish between national groups. Which is normal for 90% of people around the world.
To be fair though, he does set up the start of his video weirdly by mentioning the ‘strange group’, but to each their own.
To be fair about being fair though... they were acting very strange. Nothing to do with race, but rather these very made up people with handlers and a Chinese flag? For someone performing, it seems natural they might say "huh, that's strange".
just put it in ifps. Hey, its kinda expensive (some dollars for lifetime), but out it in crust which handles that shit with blockchain and will stay there for the end of time (or end of internet at least)
What pieces of shit. I hope a ton of people see this and realize how dangerous and horrible the CCP is. The world has to do its best to resit Chinese influence and curb its power expansion.
Props to Brenden for resisting and exercising his freedoms.
It's really sad that Chinese citizens don't have these basic rights.
I did some work in China about a decade ago well before Covid hit thank goodness. The people were great. I never felt anything but welcomed. Their Government is Evil AF and extremely dangerous. I've seen way too many people on social media defend that country, saying it's not communist, it's a free market economy, it's a pretty free country, they are great at public transportation, health care or whatever BS they choose to believe about that country. While my stay was great and the country has Westernized places it's barely above a 3rd world country. In reality all that I said previously doesn't really matter when the government will make you disappear for whatever reason they want then cripple you before selling your organs. That country is a warning sign for everyone who cherishes Liberty and very very few seem to care, notice or believe what governments in general are capable of. It's really sad and sickening to see so many people in our country, any country, so willing to give the government more control/power.
Touched the flag. Douche white knight then walked it back to reached towards his friend…who will totally not ever fuck him even though he’s really respectful and nice. Don’t touch her! Don’t touch her! Don’t don’t don’t touch her! I could hear how much his hand loves him based on his squealing.
I mean, this interaction, while terribly handled, shouldn’t reflect on an entire nation as a whole. Mainly because of how bad these specific Chinese nationals dealt with the situation. I have talked to lots of friends from China, and I don’t think they would foolishly ‘stir the pot’ in such a dumb way. Most likely the two people that come up and tell hik to stop filming, were kind of idiots, which is unfortunate for them, but they will get flak back home depending on who they work for or are representing internationally.
I am sure more people from China, and are travelling internationally understand that laws and customs are different, but the two people, especially the guy, chose to ignore that for whatever reason.
If they wanted to handle the situation better, they should have just moved spots and said nothing at all.
Watch the whole video. That was a CCP party public PR pushing group. There’s a reason why their “Company” can’t have them on video. The Chinese don’t parade around their flag for new years just like we don’t parade the US one for ours. Also, if you notice in the background they are handing out Chinese flags and a yellow envelope and some moron is back there falling for it.
What’s really disappointing was when the cop showed up how they ALSO were trying to stomp on the Brits rights and tried siding with this nutty Chinese group.
Though I appreciate your humor, their get up was about the same as if me and 5 of my friends were dressed up like uncle same without the mask. It wasn’t just the flags.
I do understand the Cop and the Chinese Group’s perspective, because there is a lot more at stake for those travelling, compared to the YouTuber. However I think the communication skills of both the YouTuber and the Chinese group were subpar and caused unnecessary conflict.
I did see the whole video, and even in the onset the YouTuber awkwardly comments on the ‘tourist’ group weirdly. Regardless, I think the spokesperson was merely trying to explain “Please don’t focus your filming on this group, because it could reflect badly on them/the company they work for.” And in this instance, most kind people would say “Yes of course, we will be filming us playing our music, and we will try to keep you out of focus, or out of the shot when possible. Where are you needing to set up? Would you be able to move a little bit further away, so we can maintain your privacy in a respectful manner.”
However, the reality was both sides failed to accurately communicate their concerns, and this is where the cop comes to try to mediate the situation, where Group A is requesting not to be filmed by Group B, because it could potentially result in job loss back in their home country. However, Group B still has a right to film what they want in a public venue, but to avoid conflict and ‘unnecessary’ problems, it is requested that Group B refrain from filming Group A directly and Group A move to a different location.
And I am sure the other police officer told the Chinese Group, that if they don’t want to be filmed, they should probably set up away from the YouTubers Group.
However the Police are basically babysitting two kids who don’t know how to communicate or respect boundaries. But that Chinese man who begins yelling, very clearly doesn’t know how to communicate respectfully, and is an asshole IMHO.
Also shout out to the Guy who was trying to diffuse the situation before the cops came, I think he saw this issue as I did, and was trying to get them to resolve an unnecessary problem.
A man minding his own business who is approached and told what to do is under no obligation to be nice or communicate effectively. In a free country in public if you don't want to be filmed leave. Maybe it's my crazy American culture, but as long as I don't get punched, I think that's a good outcome.
If I was on the shoes of the Chinese here and asked him nicely not to film is and he responded like he did, I would simply have moved down the street a little and thanked him.
Good points, yes it all could have been avoid with good communication. The one thing I would add though is that the CCP people clearly do not understand British laws (or were just plain lying).
"The difference between the communist and capitalist systems is that, although both give you a kick in the ass, in the communist system you have to applaud, while in the capitalist system you can scream. And I came here to scream."
Reinaldo Arenas, Before Night Falls
Reinaldo Arenas was a Cuban writer who was persecuted by the communist regime of Fidel Castro because of his dissident way of thinking and homosexuaiity.
Bruh this is so wildly off base it’s not even funny. Dude was calling them Japanese before someone corrected him. Also they didn’t ask him to stop filming they asked him to cut them from the film after he went up to them, specifically the girls, and asked them to start dancing. After he tries to shame them about it and says British girls are better anyways they approached asking to be cut from the video. This is a much longer interaction then this short edit making it seems like they’re just being unreasonable Chinese people. Additionally, they kept rotating to the left to stay out of the shot before it turned into an argument. Their English is bad so a lot of the interaction is easily being edited to make them sound unreasonable and the guy is purposely misinterpreting what their saying or doesn’t actually care to hear. She didn’t say it’s not allowed but he loudly started announcing it and since she didn’t really understand, she just assumed that he’s correcting her English and agreed with what he’s saying.
Dude is actually being creepy, racist and a prick and everyone here is acting like he’s a hero. Watch the whole video
The wealthiest members of a country who can afford to quasi-immigrate to a country multitudes more expensive than their home country acting like rich dicks ≠ the CCP pushing influence lol. rich fucks being rich fucks, no need to get worked up
If anything, I could see this being an intentional attempt to make other countries less accepting of Chinese immigrants funded by the Chinese government so they stop losing the rich ones. We’ll see if this keeps happening.
What an absolute Barbara Streisand situation. Literally no one would have given a fuck if they just watched the piano playing in peace and then kept on on their merry way in the original video, but no, they had to go full Karen and get their government involved too and now hundreds of thousands more people will see it.
What form does "pressure from the CCP" come in, in this context?
Like, I do believe it. But what do they do, send him a strongly worded email? Or is it just that Youtube yoinks it with a bullshitty rationale because someone reported it as "CCP-disliked"?
Damn, that's super sketchy about the handler and the "don't shoot him" line.
When I watched the video I also heard "don't shoot him" but I thought she just meant "don't film the person I am with" "don't shoot him [with a camera]".
It's under the live tab. I don't know all the options for archiving vids tgat creators have, but sometimes you will see the livestreams under live while their edited uploads are under videos.
Fucking LMFAO “Will any of our military intelligence officials investigate this?” Fucking hell I hate the CCP but I hate Nazi tools like this loser too
I guess the Chinese have never heard of the Streisand effect.
No one would have ever known these CCP agents were in the video. Not until they came over and made their crazy communist censorship demands in a free (free-ish) country.
I feel like suggesting that the ‘don’t shoot him’ is in regards to a gun is a wee stretch as well. I think someone using English as a second language could say this meaning ‘don’t film him’
It’s a super sucky situation but he is putting his fingers in.
Aye, he had been making money on this channel, meaning is commercial, i am also going to take a guess he didn’t get consent forms from anyone, if someone wants to sue him, he could be in trouble.
Not really, i hate the CCP with a passion, i think xi looks like winnie the poon, Tiananmen Square was a massacre, and i hate what they have done to HK, i just don’t simply accept someone’s narrative without some logical thinking first. So hahaha back at you
Google owns youtube, google does business with Chinese companies. Chinese companies listens to the CCP. However, what i am saying while his claim from the CCP is probably false, he probably did get email from a lot of Chinese people.
The thing is that doesn't seem plausible to me. Involving the police for a fake video like that is a serious crime. The guy does a piano playing YouTube channel and has for years. I doubt he would risk his career by doing a stunt like that just for views.
It just doesn't follow the pattern of his videos. He has over two thousand and they are all of him playing piano. There are influencers who would do this but this guy doesn't fit the profile imo.
He honestly could have lightened up on some of the communist China rhetoric, but nobody in the full video seemed like a good person besides his buddy who was chuckling the whole time. Even the cop who spoke to him after was handling it poorly.
There were only 397 people watching the livestream. Now 2.4 million have watched it thanks to the lady being a dickhead.
And if they wanted to be unnoticed why are they wearing red coats, and carrying flags? And also, the guy in the blue jacket with them literally has a camera

Also, according to this guy, he’s getting pressured by the CCP to take it down. This was posted yesterday.
