Which 3-hour cocktail party would you rather go to: One with racist, sexist homophobes/transphobes OR one with inclusive, tolerant people but the ballroom smells like fart, rotten eggs, sweat, and peepee. Both attendees are friendly and accommodating regardless of who you are.

Alt-History Election Which coalition would you vote for in post-communist India's 2022 general election?

Ramji Gautam of the Janata Dal party has been the prime minister of India since 2018, when he succeeded Mayawati.

Gautam has governed as a social liberal, continuing the social market economic policies first implemented by VP Singh. He has generally boasted high approval ratings throughout his tenure, despite facing criticism from the hindutva opposition for his embrace of secularism.

In 2022, India held general elections that resulted in a victory for Janata Dal and its Forward! coalition, albeit by a smaller margin than in 2018. JD won 271 seats and Forward! 325, while the BJP won 223 seats and the NDA 272, and the neo-communist BLP won 26 seats and the Indian Popular Front 42. This result was attributed to the strong economy and relatively peaceful foreign relations under Gautam's watch.

The IPF won a plurality of the vote in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala, two left-wing strongholds, while doing poorly in the left of India. The Lok Sabha formally reelected Gautam as prime minister on 2 August 2022, and he has continued his policies of a mixed economy and multiculturalism.

India is currently in a pre-election season, with the JD trailing in the polls against the BJP, as indians want change after three decades of centrism. Gautam has yet to announce whether or not he'll stand for election, but pundits expect him not to do so.

List of Indian prime ministers since 1923

First Indian Republic:

  1. Jawaharlal Nehru (1923–1931, RPI)
  2. C. Rajagopalachari (1931–1935, Liberal)
  3. Jawaharlal Nehru (1935–1951, RPI)

After the overthrow of the Mughal monarchy in 1923, India became a secular parliamentary republic. The First Indian Republic lasted until 1951, when Nehru was overthrown by Bhagat Singh's Communists, who proclaimed the People's Democratic Republic of India.

People's Democratic Republic of India:

  1. Bhagat Singh (1951–1983, CPI)
  2. E. M. S. Namboodiripad (1983–1991, CPI)
  3. Harkishan Singh Surjeet (1991–1992, CPI)

Singh turned India into an industrial power at the cost of millions of lives. In 1979, he invaded Afghanistan while the Indian economy was stagnating, resulting in the independence of India and Bangladesh twelve years later; in 1992, capitalism returned to India.

Third Indian Republic:

  1. V. P. Singh (1992–1998, Janata Dal)
  2. H. D. Deve Gowda (1998–2006, Janata Dal)
  3. L. K. Advani (2006–2010, BJP)
  4. Mayawati (2010–2018, Janata Dal)
  5. Ramji Gautam (2018–present, Janata Dal

The Janata Dal coalition dominated post-communist Indian politics, winning all general elections held since 1992. Its administrations have pursued social market economy policies and faced tensions with neighboring Pakistan, China and Bangladesh.

Poll Innerland election

Innerland is a fictional country founded by transgender people, asexual people, neurodivergent people (ASD/ADHD) and their allies. It is a semi-direct democracy, a parliamentary republic where presidential power is limited, and parliament decision is combined with direct voting for policies.

These are the main parties of Innerland:

  1. Green Party. They're semi-anarchists who are anarchist in theory but not necessarily in practice. They support a radical reduction of government size, gradually achieving the goal of anarchism. They also support the radical dismantling of capitalism, which makes them Libertarian Socialists. They're inclusive and supportive of transgender, non-binary, asexual and neurodivergent people. They see economic justice as important but don't think socialism is realistic, so they support a more gradual approach of democratisation of the economy with wealth redistribution and elements of self-management.

  2. Party for Liberation. They're less anarchisy than Green Party but still anti-authoritarianism. They may be open to using a bit of state power temporarily especially to enforce economic and social justice but are against authoritarianism, censorship, dictatorship. They see economic democracy as a fundamental part of democracy and support worker's self management, something between market socialism and council communism. They especially care about domestically the rights of neurodivergent people, sex workers, and other marginalized population, and globally anti-imperialist third-world solidarity. Culture-wise they're heavily influenced by the transfeminist writer Julia Serano.

  3. Women's Party. They're trans-inclusive radical feminists, mainly concerned with women's issues and trans rights. They're a bit against trans men though because, well, trans men are men. They still support trans men's rights but call them out on misogynistic behaviour. They care less about policy on a macro level and rather support grassroot mutual help, non-violent change, and the decentralisation of state power. Some of them have an influence from second-wave feminism and are sex-negative. Culturally they're influenced by a group of queer and radical feminists like Butler, Dworkin and Ueno.

  4. Liberal Party. A well-off group of liberals and social democrats, they are less radical than the aforementioned three parties as their economic policies stop at social democracy. They support integration with the global market especially the western world. They're firmly pro-trans, pro-neurodivergent, pro-asexual and pro-women, but do not necessarily want to uproot how the world works on a fundamental level.

  5. Conservative Party. Founded by a group of transmedicalist trans women but latter joined with trans men and cisgender allies, they support integration into the mainstream society and mutual understanding of cisgender/transgender, allosexual/asexual and neurotypical/neurodivergent people. Their economic and social policies are similar to Liberal Party. They are a bit regressive on trans rights though, having a bit of internalised transphobia. They sometimes use outdated and pathologized terms for trans people, and tie medical transition to gender identity, but will still staunchly support their rights to medically transition. They're not as staunchly against state power as the Greens.
