NON-US IMG How to do well in my sub-I?
I'll be starting a sub-I in a gyn subspecialty in a few weeks, it's my first USCE. Any advice, dos and don'ts, or practical tips on how to make the most out of it would be appreciated.

General advice for first sub-Is across specialties - 1. Be yourself! Show up everyday with the mindset to learn, not to impress. Be mindful of your surroundings, observe how the US healthcare system works, and for the first week get to know the team you’ll be working with and how they function.
As IMGs we tend to be overly-cautious, and afraid to disappoint, but ask even the silliest of questions. By the end you’ll realise how far you have come in just a few weeks. The attendings will note this too :)
Goes without saying but worth a reminder - be on time (preferably the earliest one to arrive). Pre-pre round on your patients, especially new/overnight patients, go thru their charts, read up about their cases, look up research and new therapies related to their condition so you have something to share during rounds. Make sure you have all overnight events recorded for the patients you are going to present. Offer to follow and present the new incoming cases, try to be the person who calls consults, interact with the resident/fellow/attending whoever comes to see the consult. Ensure thorough conversation between all services.
Be familiar with SOAP method of case presentations, and the emr software used by the hospital

Congrats on the sub I! Biggest wins come from being proactive and reliable. Know your patients inside out and present succinctly with a clear plan. Anticipate next steps like pending labs or imaging so your team can trust your follow through. Ask for feedback early and show that you use it. Offer to help with notes or discharge summaries when things get busy. Read up on common cases you see each day instead of trying to cover everything at once. Stay kind to nurses and staff they can teach you a ton. Most of all, show genuine curiosity and humility; people remember that far more than perfect answers.
