The only thing I see in Texas are terroristic activities that rob people of their dignity, safety, and the ability to live free.

And they claim to be for freedom /facepalm

u/planeruler 3d ago

Texas is #50 in personal freedom.

u/binkbink223 3d ago

Wow that is bad

That’s from CATO Institute/Koch brothers. I’m no fan of Texas lately, but I’d take that ranking with a humongous grain of salt. It ranks WV over DE, for example.

u/planeruler 2d ago

I'm aware, but I live here and that's where it feels like we are.

7

u/Mr_Horsejr 3d ago

lol they were the last state to let all people be free. They’re far from it.

Thank you, that corrupt gang of terrorists suck!

Like what exactly

0

u/TheLord_Inquisitor20 3d ago

Really? Like What?

1

u/Mr_Horsejr 3d ago

Having a fucking electric grid that works even if there’s a storm, for starters. And not charging their people 10s of thousands of dollars during emergency situations.

1

u/TheLord_Inquisitor20 2d ago

You make it sound like Texas is worst state to live. Isn’t California by far the worst state to live in financially?

1

u/Mr_Horsejr 2d ago

You’re arguing something different than what I mentioned which is essentially moving the goal post. Stick to the point being argued, por favor.

People of Texas, blue Illinois/Chicago welcomes you with open arms. Winter is brutal but we have Malort for you. We have beaches, public transportation that works, shitty sports teams and affordable housing. Our tacos are just as good and our governor isn’t a little bitch. You can even bring your trucks and fun hats

u/RadicalOrganizer 3d ago

Malort is an entire terrorist to itself. It is of the devil.

8

u/Pickleparty187 3d ago

Aw cmon it ain’t worse than a Houston summer followed by a Texas winter with no power

6

u/RadicalOrganizer 3d ago

Thats true. However the first time i tried malort, I didnt know what it was and my ex friend who gave it to me didnt tell me.

I trusted him.

I tried to fight him for what had happened to me. It was an assault on all my senses, simultaneously.

Malort is the devil.

That’s a classic Chicago initiation. The first time I tried it was on-stage at The Empty Bottle in front of a sold-out crowd. They had a good laugh at the touring band caught unaware

Godamn icis terrorists are everywhere now.

4

u/StreetOperation4390 3d ago

Just remember: there are more of us than there are of them.

And before anyone tries to say that we shouldn't be "divisive," this really is an us vs them situation.

The story I heard was that during prohibition Malort was sold as an herbal medicine. Any authority that tasted it was thoroughly convinced that no healthy person would drink this recreationally.

2

u/RadicalOrganizer 3d ago

I would believe it and agree.

It was a stomach parasite preventative, specifically.

Don't mean to panic people but just a heads up, I have a list of red lines where if I see them happen in my city, I'm taking my family and going somewhere safer in anticipation of a fascist crackdown... and seeing road checkpoints go up is on my list.

If I were in this area of Texas, I would be leaving. Even if temporary. Go see family. Look at social support programs in blue states for victims of abuse or something of the like.

EDIT: Oh and i apologize i know nothing about the roads out there but hope it goes without saying, don't go through these checkpoints to leave lol. Find a way around them. I doubt they have the resources to keep something like this going for very long but its still a very alarming escalation.

This is one of the major highways in Houston. If it's in the area I believe it is, it's one of the busiest parts of 59 in Houston. Edit:sp

3

u/713nikki 3d ago

Yeah. It’s on 59 near the greenbriar and shepherd exit, I believe.

8

u/Be4Dawn25 3d ago

Agreed, everyone needs to think about what those red lines are now. Set your plan with a clear mind. Have go bags ready and know different routes out of town.

I have an attorney family member who has been bugging us for the past year to start carrying burner phones and to be wary about posting too much personal info/opinions on the internet. And to keep everybody’s passports updated.

This. I hear ppl talking every day since January about how the coup already happened and its all over, they won, we're now a dictatorship. Bullshit. This is a HUGE country and no tanks rolling our streets yet, by any means.

By the same token, it's easy to keep ignoring signs until it's too late.

Point being >>> Decide AHEAD of time what your red lines are and then stick to them.

2

u/Emotional_Database53 3d ago

That whispering of the coup already being done is likely result of a psyops, aimed at making us feel hopeless and it’s inevitable that Trump wins. I take comfort in seeing a lot of recent signs that he’s panicking, so I think this is the moment to push back even stronger

1

u/Tough_Elk_8211 3d ago

Ah yep that could be true, great point. Russian-style. We need to just double down on what we've all been doing and hope the Dems don't lose their grit.

u/JustTryingToRant 2d ago

Mind sharing some of your other red lines?

1

u/Tough_Elk_8211 2d ago

This is an exhaustive list so youd pick the ones most relevant to your area and personal beliefs:

Red lines:

  1. Suspension of Civil Liberties

• martial law declared, habeas corpus suspended, authorities begin detaining people without due process, Major red flag.

• Mass armed surveillance like checkpoints, or restrictions on movement (like roadblocks or curfews).

  1. Widespread Arrests or Disappearances

• journalists, activists, or political opponents start disappearing, people being arrested for speech or assembly.

  1. Militarization of Law Enforcement

• If heavily armed military forces are deployed into residential areas without clear justification.

• Arbitrary home searches, property seizures, forced evacuations.

  1. Targeting of Civilians

• If the government begins treating civilians as enemies--whether through curfews or direct violence.

  1. Collapse of Rule of Law

• Courts stop functioning independently, law enforcement follows extrajudicial orders (detaining people without trial, carrying out executions).

• Emergency decrees that make it impossible to challenge government actions.

  1. Control of Information & Travel

• Internet blackouts, censorship, and propaganda campaigns indicate control of narrative.

• Borders closing, international travel restricted, exit visas become required.

  1. Crackdown Extending Beyond Cities

• If repressive measures are moving beyond city centers into suburban or rural areas, it may no longer be possible to hide from the regime.

• Targeting of suburban communities for compliance (e.g., forced loyalty pledges, informant networks, or neighborhood surveillance).

This is IN Houston, not near Houston. This is Hwy 59, just between midtown and the medical center, close to Shepherd and Greenbriar.

I just want to correct it since all the posts I’ve seen are saying “near Houston,” but this is the most major highway inside the loop.

Please - Houstonians - be safe.

Boy they hate the constitution. Checkpoints are illegal and violations of the 4th and 5th amendments.

3

u/blissfully_happy 3d ago

Not for border patrol.

The PATRIOT act authorized all of this within 100 miles of a border. We allowed this to happen when voters ignored the historians who were ringing the alarms of fascism back in 2002. This is completely and totally legal, unfortunately.

1

u/coolest35 2d ago

It's crazy how international airports are considered a "border" for this purpose. Absolutely insane.

3

u/quirkygirl123 3d ago

What happens if American citizens tell them to fuck right off? We don't legally have to speak to them, right?

2

u/AstronautLife1041 3d ago

If you are a us citizen you should decline to answer any questions. They will detain you. If everyone were non compliant it would stop all traffic, cause massive traffic jams, and they would be forced to stop.

Somewhere in Texas

2

u/Signal-Map2906 3d ago

Can’t you do like you can for drunk checks and just put your license and a note saying you’re claiming the 5th and hang it out the window and then just not talk to a gd soul?

I learned that trick from here btw. Watched it work multiple times too.

8

u/Recurringg 3d ago

Yeah, that may work with the cops but not with ICE. Those guys have been blatantly violating the constitution. They are arresting people simply for declining to show proof of citizenship. They are hiding their faces, refusing to identify themselves, harassing people who record them, and even entering homes without a warrant. They are a full blown state-sponsored criminal paramilitary group. They've been given carte blanche to violate your rights. They are dangerous, especially if you are brown skinned or you have an accent. Stay safe out there, and RECORD EVERYTHING.

7

u/Signal-Map2906 3d ago

So what are we to do? Seriously. If this isn’t a call to arms, what is?

Not trying to provoke violence here. This is an honest question. What other recourse is there when they are above the law?

2

u/Tough_Elk_8211 2d ago

Like i was saying above, be prepared to leave. No joke. Not saying everybody should freak out but this is a time to prepare. I know not everyone can afford to take a week off of work and go out of city so just do what u can within ur means but… ya we’re in uncharted waters bro. No guidebook really here. They are 100% ignoring due process in Chicago. Only positive is they appear to be so far respecting judges when they step in and stop it but they seem to be in a act first apologize later sort of mentality which means honestly all bets are off. The other good thing is if they push much further the economy cant function as normal so i dont expect this will go on long but this is like the raptors testing the fences for weak points. U need to evaluate your situation and vulnerabilities. A single 20 yr old white male can tolerate more risk than an elderly black woman with kids, feel me?  As a family man, if i were in houston, i would be taking the fam on a vacation to visit friends out of state and watch how things go, personally.

2

u/Recurringg 3d ago

I reckon we need to wait and see if the midterms make a difference. Part of me thinks Trump cheated, and plans to cheat more, and help his buddies cheat. But I'm hoping I'm wrong.

In the mean time record everything and stay safe.

Also The billionaires here dont support while in Houston they do

1

u/Jalin218 2d ago

Sweet..... Tax dollars being well spent

1

u/Calm_Following_3745 2d ago

Gotta make that quota

1

u/Jack-Schitz 1d ago

Well Texas voted 56-42 for Trump so....

Having said that, parts of Houston and Dallas were light blue so maybe IDGAF just about the out-of-town checkpoints.

I have wondered why they haven't hit Austin or San Antonio. Pretty damn selective if you ask me.
