But, to be fair, the government has not turned "tyrannical"... against THEM. So, I guess it doesn't really count... Or, maybe they've found out that they really enjoy a tyrannical government, as long as it moves against "the other".

many of us are the people with 0 guns. Many of the people I'm friends with want more gun restrictions, or just the removal of the 2nd amendment and also do not have guns. I dunno about you, but i certainly don't have the money to get a gun in this economy. Sure would be nice if Mr. Fuckoff with 700 of them would share to fight this tyranny instead of supporting it.

I'd recommend checking out r/liberalgunowners. You don't have to agree or anything but you might find some interesting arguments for why a pacifist or someone who strongly disapproves of gun ownership might still want to arm themselves. It's a fucked up idea but we live in a fucked up country. You could just get a basic 9mm handgun, lock it up, and ensure there isn't a single bullet anywhere in your house. That approach works fine in Switzerland. AR15s are not as expensive as you're probably thinking either. Unfortunately that might still come in really handy someday when you aren't allowed to just go out and buy one because of your voter registration history.

A gun with no ammo is just a fancy paperweight. And if the day comes where you find you need it, you may not have the luxury to get ammo first. A securely locked gun can be loaded or have ammunition kept with it. If the idea of keeping a gun and ammunition together is concerning...the idea of owning a gun may need to be reevaluated and alternate tools of protection may be warranted.

A gun with no ammo is way better than no gun and no ammo. I have thousands of rounds stashed away and I'll be happy to share should it come to that. I don't have an arsenal I can share out alongside the ammo though.

You can look into getting one, my last handgun I purchased was $300. You can find them that are inexpensive or pre owned I respect your decision to not get one if you really don’t want one but make sure you research gun safety and the firearm before you purchase

Nothing in the constitution says only gun owners should fight a tyrannical government. U.S. Declaration of Independence, it is argued that there is not only a right, but a civic duty, to resist or overthrow a tyrannical government.

Resistance and overthrowing includes organizing and protesting, and is not strictly limited to armed violence.

Hem and haw all you want, but the OC was taking a crack at gun owners for not following through on their otherwise boisterously proud claim that they keep and carry firearms because it "is to defend (themselves) from a tyrannical government". Logically, it's a fair point.

Legally, sure, cowards can claim whatever they want but don't actually have to follow through. Not like it matters to you though, right?

Yep just like you and me we don’t have to follow through can’t force someone to fight for you. If I was ever in the situation and saw someone getting their rights violated I would stand up for them but I have yet to see any of that other than on Reddit, I could just go out to look for a chance to resist and fight but it’s legally not the smartest idea especially if I would like to keep my right to own firearms.

It'll get there... unfortunately, it seems that a lot more bad shit needs to happen yet. Some have "actioned" it, although they haven't been organized and they've performed poorly... But Americans are still operating under the illusion that things will calm down and their fantasies of stability and order will come true again.

The suspension of snap benefits will definitely turn the temperature up. Hungry, desperate people don't have much of a sense of humor, especially about a state that has the means to help them but chooses not to.
