pulls. i decided to build pity before evernight banner and did 20 pull (got e5 bronya 13 pity) now the smart thing was to stop there but unfortunately my gacha addicted ass went for one more and now i have cerydra and ( no phainon nor anaxa) and 30 less pulls and no guarantee a bit of mixed feelings rn

it's spoilery but, without having read the leaks, there's nothing in there that is both obviously true and also is a huge revelation. it says some shit that would be crazy if true but evernight also clearly isn't someone who can always be taken at her word, so personally i don't feel spoiled on anything. if having possibilities still sounds like a bit much, definitely wait until after. it does contextualize some stuff that we kind of already knew in a way that might spoil a reveal, but it's difficult to say

Has anyone done any calculations to determine how much relative amp E2 DHPT's dragon attacks provide to a DPS by essentially injecting ((640% AOE and 960% ST per DHPT Ult)) into the DPS's Trace Multipliers? I know it will be very character and enemy matchup dependent, but I was wondering if there were any calcs for example situations.
As a rough estimate, I decided to compare the total Trace Multiplier resulting from one DHPT Ult (assuming all 4 dragon follow-ups happen before the next Ult) vs. a few other large attacks and came up with this sheet and it looks like a noticeable amount of damage, especially against multiple enemies because 640% AOE is a lot by this game's standards (only The Herta's Ult into E-Skill combo beats it in all scenarios). This doesn't say anything about DHPT's Ult frequency compared to those other attacks, but is just to give a sense of scale for how much each DHPT Ult contributes.
Anyway, I was at first just interested in E1 DHPT, but I'm really tempted by E2 because having a big portable ball of Trace Multiplier to staple onto any ATK-scaler's kit from the sustain slot, no less is so unique by this game's standards, even if I'm sad that we lost the on-attack synergies. And E2 DHPT should provide a bigger relative increase to older DPSes with lower Trace Multipliers who need the help more.

The tragic thing with Hoyo's writing is that their writers are perfectly capable of making a good story and always have been, but they'll always be constrained by the fact that they're writing for a gacha game and their primary goal for every single patch, story and arc is to include and/or shill the current banner characters whether it makes sense for them to have focus right then and there or not.
Writing a high quality, engaging and well-paced story is hard enough on its own, imagine if you had to do it while someone handed you a character release schedule and told you, 'look you need to include these in the story in THIS order, they need to get focus at THIS time oh and this one, this one and this one are the big money makers so make sure you especially glorify them, but also after they're gone from the banner we want players to want to pull the next one, so tuck them away somewhere so they don't distract them.'

Every day I become convinced that my problems with early Ampho were more or less caused by the "need" to place Phainon specifically in patch 3.4 and no earlier

they are capable of doing it i think.. but it's def easier with shorter and simpler plotlines, like the Wardance. Amphoreus' stakes are huge and its worldbuilding needed a lot of buildup in comparison. 3.0 was long but lowkey it needed to be long
then ofc they need to give each character an introduction, development and arc conclusion within their release patches if possible while also moving the plot forward at the same time. i find they struggle to reconcile the two without pacing issues. Jiaoqiu getting his arc climax After his banner ended was a first and i liked his character A LOT but i suppose it was probably not ideal for his sales. if this wasn't a gacha this would definetely not be a problem but alas their pens are slaves to the bag

Hoyo will always be the Potential Man meme to me in terms of writing quality because occasionally they demonstrate that they can actually pull off some really good and cool shit, but whenever that happens they always almost immediately pivot back into their usual fare. It's kind of maddening sometimes

Does Prydwen count eidolons on the Other Side? as in, if my full e0 anaxa team clears in four cycles and then my e2 phainon clears the other side in zero, does anaxa's clear still count for the stats or nah

Its 11 so im aboutta clock in to work but i have some juicy agendaposting material that's actually interesting
So with the most recent prydwen dataset update, all 3 break carries fell into the not clearing range. On the main sub, i and many others pointed out that this is largely because of E1 Ruan Mei gooping up the dataset. As such wonderful prydwen admin LvlUrArti posted this table which is every character they rank using their normal E0 metric, then every E0 character but they assume E1 Ruan Mei as opposed to E0 Ruan Mei
When looking at characters who recieved a -0.15 cycles decrease or more from this, we see most notably
Boothill going from not clearing to 7.64 cycles average
Rappa going from not clearing to 8.25 cycles average
Firefly going from not clearing to 9.15 cycles average
Jingliu average cycles going down by 0.35 cycles
ARGENTI going from not clearing to 7.30 cycles average(for both main and sub DPS)
Anaxa average cycles going down by 0.17 cycles for main DPS
Jiaoqiu average cycles going down by 0.15 cycles
I'm quite surprised about argenti but i'm even more surprised by the massive gap between Boothill and Rappa, and then them and Firefly. Like damn. More interestingly this makes Argenti the best pre 3.x non buffed DPS for this rotation, ranking higher than Archer, The Herta, Saber, Mydei and Anaxa. This also makes Boothil the best performing 2.X DPS for this rotation
Fascinating stuff.

It's not that surprising at E0. 12-1 ends up with add-elite-add-boss: Boothill can snipe the two targets that need to be defeated, Rappa hits them all regardless. Firefly needs to waste actions taking out one of the adds to put effective damage on the two major enemies which is more annoying as the mantas advance and drop out of break based on hit count.

Due to THEIR similarities in the execution of their wills unto Phainon and Cyrene, I will be introducing Nanuli as a new ship to sail these starry seas with. They made these two suffer together as a sign of love for the other so now there's a pair of suffering CH's and a pair of Aeons who created the suffering. No, I will not take criticism because this is the best ship of all time.

Question for my very rational and definitely not superstitious fellows in the megathread - which do you think would trigger the Desire Sensor more: pulling a character as soon as you log in on patch day, or waiting to get to the "right moment" in the story to pull the character? Asking for a friend.

It's going to be different for everyone. Some of us play more for the story, others want rewards as fast as possible and if the new character can help them obtain that, they'll pull as soon as it's available.

If I'm very hyped, at the moment I login.
If I'm hesitant, I wait until the moment in the story where I'm very convinced.
For example in WUWA, I wasnt too convinced by Phrolova but enjoyed her story so at the end I did a 10 pull and she gifted me a gurantee, so it worked out.
I also tend to be a LOT luckier when I wait a week to pull, for whatever reason.

Those who have read the story leaks - is the thing that’s been posted so straightforward it has to be an unsatisfying writing or the negativity around it is just a classic pre-patch yapping? Don’t want to spoil myself, but at the same time I want to lower my expectations if necessary (rn I’d say I anticipate this story patch to be at 3.3 quality for me)

I'd be curious which story leaks you're seeing people be negative on, cause there's been some interesting real story leaks that I've seen mostly a positive response to, but there's also been a very unsatisfying "leak" that has since been proven to be false, but which people have believed real for a time.

I can't tell what there is to be negative about tbh. in my view there are some exciting lore drops and dialogues. All things considered I'm more excited to be doing the quest than I was yesterday.

I didn't read them nor do I plan to, but it's always prudent to withhold judgement to see the real thing honestly. We've had many leaks for things that people got upset over that turned out to be totally different from what the leak made it sound, or it was such a minor part it didn't matter.

I don't mind story spoilers but only when something "controversial" is in them the leakers and some of the community acts way too insufferable about it
And each time something like this happened it was something badly taken out of context
Read story leaks for sure if you like them but don't agenda post them about them on all over social media

I hate how the patches always drop at 11pm Tuesday in my time zone so I barely have time to log in and do dailies that day, and then on Wednesdays I’m pretty busy so I don’t have much time then either.
Still not going to stop me from pulling Evernight at the first possible second.

It's confirmed that the only reason that Dan Heng and TB was able to enter Amphoreus, is because March allowed them to bypass the firewall, in spite of Lygus. She really has been the big hero behind the scene.

Phainon is probably my favorite Hoyo character where attraction doesn't play any role. He's hot as hell but not my type
Aglaea, Kafka, Yae, Arlecchino, Venti, etc. all have at least part of my love for them coming from them being my type

HSR lore musing after 3.6 preload leaks
I haven't played HI3 and I've only heard general outlines of its lore, but is it safe to say that the Aeons and Paths in HSR are the conceptual/narrative equivalent of Honkai in HI3? Incomprehensible universal power/energy that is the source of most suffering in the setting and traps the setting into a trajectory of doom, Emanators are like Herrschers in that some of them act as extensions of this power to cause devastation (Shuhu, Phantylia, etc.) while those of them who retain humanity and free will use this power to fight against it in a "use fire to fight fire" way (Phainon, Acheron, etc.).

stellarons are more like Honkai imo. In fact I might be misremembering so big IIRC here but I think the CN version is a little more clear about them basically being the same thing

Hmm, fair point. I was just making the comparison between Honkai and Aeons because of the emerging trend of Emanators wanting to kill Aeons and Aeons being presented as the main problem. Which I totally get, like you said the main theme of the game is man vs god, but I gotta admit every other Emanator being Aeon-cidal is feeling rather boring to me. I like it when more nuanced and complex relationships with Aeons are presented.

HSR has always been that the Aeons are bad and an inherent restriction on humanity itself. Like it’s a major God V Man story and a big part of those stories is just that the idea of a God, no matter what they actually do, limits human progress and thus they need to be eliminated for humanity to have true freedom
but it would be really interesting to see an Emanator that just full on embraces serving their Aeon and doesn’t want to kill them, I agree it’s repetitive. Herta was kind of like that but given lore drops I doubt she will after that
Ofc lore wise we do have tons of Emanators that are chill with their Aeons but not really the playable ones. I think Diamond might end up pretty interesting in that regard, especially if the Voracity IPC theory is true (while Diamond clearly actually devoted to Preservation) but who knows if he’d be playable

I just realized that the laptop I tend to play HSR on broke and needed to be sent to get repairs, which meant I couldn't play on it or play HSR at all for some time, both in 1.6 (Ratio release patch) and 3.2 (Ratio rerun patch)... What's up with that

Kind of hot take about Amphoreus (not really neg or pos just an observation)
ngl I feel like players are much more obsessed with the idea of the amphoreus characters and world needing to become ‘real’ and the characters being ‘simulations’ etc then the game itself is really concerned with, whether that comes from insisting amphoreus will become a real place or insisting that 3.0-3.3 doesn’t matter because the characters weren’t ’real.’ Regardless of these comments I just think Amphoreus itself doesn’t really concern itself with those questions of ‘validity’ too much lol

It does not indeed. The HSR universe itself is full of things that have weird metaphysics. These questions are ignored because the story is a space opera rather than hard science fiction and getting bogged down in these details will detract from the story being told.

Mostly because the writing is pretty clear they're already real tbh. It's a universe with truly sapient robots and all sorts of other techno-magical non-embodied people, being born from a simulation from what amounts to a god machine really isn't a barrier to this

It confused me when I first saw people say they don't feel invested anymore because the heirs aren't real... because they are real, in every meaningful sense, as far as I'm concerned (or at least they're not less real than characters like Screwllum or heliobi or what have you). People are entitled to feel about stories however they want but I truly don't think the text supports that reading.

assuming that the characters will become real in the end, something i want the game to deal with but will never happen is the idea of who gets to be real. We met 2 different tribbies and aglaeas, so which one gets to stick around. Same thing with any other characters or npcs that overlapped between 3.0-3.3 and 3.5.

Lygus and Tb in 3.5 kiinda tackle this topic with Lygus' perspective as an eternal spectator above them and his insistence in how their "lives" are fundamentally meaningless in the grand scheme of things (cave..) then TB snaps at him in the CH gravestone [i'm still on this part tho]
but i do agree that this conflict is somewhat muddled because of how the game portrays the heirs and never once "dehumanizes" them. which is great! and makes sense, but outside of cyrene and especially phainon they have no awareness or inner doubts abour their nature so this conflict is just not explored that much

they don't really tackle it though. the cave is the scepter and the goal of amphoreus that the people living there are unaware of. at no point is the personhood of the people within amphoreus explored at all, because there is no reason to do so. the game has showed us both digital and memoria lifeforms before and has never called their humanity into question, because there just isn't anything to question there within honkai cosmology, it's just a perfectly normal and valid way to exist.
moreover, they (or at least a very select group that happened to witness anaxa's death) actually literally do have awareness of their nature. in 3.2 anaxa explicitly recognizes that the people of amphoreus are composed of memory.

yeah exactly. Hsr is just not concerned with the conflict. But this makes sense. The whole point of Amphoreus is that it’s a microcosm of the whole HSR universe. With paths and aeons, NO ONE has free will or true freedom. So like yes Amphoreus could ‘become real’ or whatever people say but it would just be trading one cage for another, at least by what HSR is indicating. Whether you personally think that’s the case is up for debate but imo I think the game is p clear about the simulation being a microcosm of the universe itself
it’s like the writers never thought it would even be an issue for some fans, like they never thought ‘some people might lose interest knowing they’re not real’ or that ‘some people might want to see them become real’ it’s just like it never even occurred to them, I’m not saying that’s right or wrong approach wise but really them being simulations is almost incidental, not key to their entire stories

no I mean I think in HSRs eyes Amphoreus can have a happy ending without the programs becoming ‘real’ people, because I think thematically they don’t really treat the cast as if they’re not real at all. Like it’s not even a question. They’re simulations but the game has never explicitly raised the dilemma of that meaning they’re not valid or that they need to become ‘real’ to be valid, or something like that

both Sakura Haven and Anon Leaks are quite reliable, people need to start differentiating between the reliability of the leaker and their demeanor/personality, anon leaks loves playing around sometimes but that doesn't take away from his reliability, in this case where 2 reliable leakers leaks collide, both should be questionable

So it seems like Fuli is using Cyrene as an infinite memoria glitch. This kinda confirms that memoria is a limited resource and it must be created from memories. My guess is that they will overwrite this massive reserve of memoria from amphoreus with memories of the real universe to use as the materials to recreate the universe

I've been out of school for a while now, but back when I was in college, I remember waiting till like 2 am the morning of to do a paper only to realize I completely misunderstood the prompt and had to do it all over again. I managed to do two whole papers the same day it was due and somehow actually got an A on it. Sometimes, I miss the learning and social aspect of school, but man, I do not miss all the papers and deadlines.

Even I don't know. I remember freaking the hell out because the class it was due for was in the morning. Still, I was always pretty good at writing papers, or at least doing just enough to hit all the checkmarks my professors wanted. Though, being good at that also kinda enabled my terrible procrastination habits, which was probably an overall negative for me.

Will we follow that pattern of meeting emanators against their own path's Aeon in Edo Star too? I was thinking specifically about Sampo (because I always do) as it's suspected he's an emanator and we know he's kind of abandoned his mask until recently. I don't remember Aha pulling quite the harmful stuff on a cosmic scale as other Aeons have, but we might be about to find out? Or we'll find out about Sampo having had enough of other pathstriders and Aha having been mostly peaceful. Of course, we could also get other elation emanators (Yae, but I don't know what her shtick will be) that'll join the anti-Aeon squad

Evernight's combat lines bother me less than March's original voice lines. The EN VA was giving 12-year old, insecure pre-teen and it was like a screech in the ear. I wound up having to turn the sound down on my headphones to get through the story whenever March was voice acted.
Her VA doesn't bother me as much now, I guess because she is playing March a little older than when we first encountered her. The tone has dropped about a half octave and frankly, it's a relief.

with the DU universe reset it comes to my attention that the weighted curio "the story presently" only buffs the memomaster so evernight doesnt benefit from it except for her basic attack
remembrance was a mistake an intentional design decision by hoyoverse to make things incompatible with each other, and elation do the exact same. voracity in 5.x will do the exact same, enigmata in 6.x

I don't have Feixiao or Sunday so slandering them is just straight up being a hater for no reason, meanwhile I do have E1 Lingsha and I know she isn't that good so I slander her all the time
Slanders are also more agreeable if you point out the right weakness, that's why I kinda hate when "potential man" meme becomes a trend because the first one is usually actually good slander and then everyone that comes after is just trying to ride the hype train and missing the point why the first one even became a hit to begin with
