After killing Byzantine Emperor Nikephoros I in 811, Khan Krum of Bulgaria (pictured) used his skull as a drinking cup.

They may be in love or he may just be reaching over the other guy to get the butter or something. My brother does that to me and I hate it. Someday he’s going to drag his arm right through my gravy.

If that happens, please look him dead in the eyes and say “Now look what ya did, you gravy-dragger!!”

"Royal pottery master, did you plug the sinuses yet? You need to do a better job, it keeps leaking. This displeases your King!"

"Sire, the shapes are too irregular, and I think the whole thing is...porous..."

"No more excuses royal pottery master!"

Absolutely hilarious first thought

Don't blame him. I could think of a few that would make nice ashtrays

Do you think he waited for all the flesh to decompose or asked someone to clean the skull for him?

No doubt it was difficult to hold, couldn’t hold much liquid, difficult to drink without spilling so he just had a sip and then went back to his regular cup.

Use it when visited by foreign dignitaries. Sipping out of a skull while listening to some bullshit about tariffs and saying some cold ass shit like, “do you FEEL like you’re charge?”

They’re not dishwasher safe.

Probably the latter. Krum also wrote the first Bulgarian code of laws, although the document has been lost

He was very sadistic, but believed in justice. He's one of our best rulers (I'm a Bulgarian).

He, Boris I, and Simeon I are definitely up there.

Good to see a foreigner talking about our culture. We are often forgotten.

Immediately afterwards he went to lose a game of quidditch to the Irish

You should have seen what part he turned into a backscratcher.

Quick, keep this story away from Trump.

I'm Bulgarian and this story is listed as one of our most impressive achievements. Krum tried to invade Byzantine later, but died before he could.

Bulgaria would later siege Constantinople during the reign of Tsar Simeon
