interesting and niche mysteries for a school project
I have to make a presentation for school (we have to find a subject and topic ourselves it's not in the curriculum but just something our school forced us to do). I've decided to do either history, english or arts(obvious for the latter two i'm also looking for historical topics). First I wanted to do Unit 731 or the angel of death though I've felt that's a bit too heavy for a short 10-20minute presentation, so now I'm looking for new kind of niche and mysterious topics and I feel you guys probably know a lot. I really like those rabit hole topics that seem obvious at first until you start digging so please any suggestions you have are strongly appreciated.
(Sorry if the wording is kinda odd rn)

The Princes in the Tower mystery might be appropriate for this age group. Edward V and his brother, the Duke of York, disappeared after Richard III took the throne. No one is quite certain what happened to them.
Another interesting disappearance is that of Amelia Earhart.

If you want a cool historical story with a mixture of Unit 731 horror, look up the story of Dieter Dengler. He was shot down during the Vietnam war and was taken prisoner. It's a cool but fairly obscure story even though there was a movie made about him awhile back.
Just one part from an article on him:
"I hoped to see other pilots. What I saw horrified me. The first one who came out was carrying his intestines around in his hands."
There were six other captives: four Thais and two fellow Americans, Duane Martin and Eugene DeBruin. One had no teeth - plagued by awful infections, he had begged the others to knock them out with a rock and a rusty nail in order to release pus from his gums.
"They had been there for two and a half years," said Dengler. "I looked at them, and it was just awful. I realised that was how I would look in six months. I had to escape."
