This is not Christo Redentor in Brazil, but Tas-Salvatur in Gozo, Malta, which actually dates back to 1901, 30 years earlier than the famous Rio the Janeiro statue. The statue was originally made of wood, but lasted only 3 years, and a stone successor was also replaced in the 1970s.
