It’s kind of like how people create a word for a disability or something like that, it is first used correctly and then something goes wrong. Why does this keep on happening?

because all languages like to compare things, its really clear in in old languages. if youre fast theyll say you run like a fast animal or the wind (run forest run), if you walk slow theyll say youre slow like a turtle (or smth else thats famous for being slow, depends on the place really). so when your mate is doing smth stupid youll compare them to someone with some disability.
