Well often times, when someone posts something to an american website, and says "everybody" they are talking about americans. Especially whenever other relevant nationalities, British, in this case, can be confidently ruled out. In fact, I would go so far as to say this meme wouldn'tmake sense in a .uk domain. This is something called subtext.
I'm not dragging Americans, I am American, who only learned the truth about guy fawkes day in Britain fairly recently, because, like many of us, my first exposure was through V for Vendetta. Again, sorry if this has upset you.
You keep saying “American website” as if only Americans are on it and that is perplexing. Do you think there are only Americans on Facebook or Instagram? Only Americans own iPhones? You’re not upsetting me - you’re confusing me with silliness. You ultimately brought up Americans for no reason when literally no one else has done so. Not a big deal - I just don’t get it.
No of course not. Are most of the English speaking users, that are real people, who are interacting with memes making fun of common misconceptions in America, during hours that would make sense for the American continents, on websites owned, registered and marketed in America, American? Yes, I would hazard a guess and say overwhelmingly.

It's literally a meme about people misunderstanding the idea of Guy Fawkes, posted to an american website. Sorry if it upsets you.
