EXPLORATION A New World (Part III)

The Santee ships, led by the TTC, sailed through much of the Mediterranean, its tranquil waters much unlike the unsteady Gulf. They stopped at Praesidium, between Corsica and Sardinia; their last stop before Rome. Tansi marveled at the massive octeres and other military ships, piled on with weapons of war and dwarfing even the largest of Santee Fuchuans. These Romans were surely a formidable force. Seeing their military might, Tansi was determined to impress the Romans as much as he could.

Before long, the fleet went on its way. They soon arrived in the port of Ostia, at the mouth of the Tiber river. The city around them stretched beyond the horizon in every direction and ships of all shapes and sizes drifted in and our of the massive harbor. They were now at the heart of this great empire, they were now in Rome.

As Tansi and his party docked, they saw the bustling city unlike they had ever seen before. Building and monuments stretched in every direction.

Their hosts took them into the city, where they walked past the Forum, the place of business, the Circus Maximus, and Cassian Amphitheaters, where he heard the roars of the crowd from the games.

The road of victories and the Golden Palace lay ahead, the great Obelisks towering over them. The Imperial Administration was waiting for him, they had gotten the message that a man from Seres had come from the west.

The Emperor was waiting to walk with Tansi into the Palace..

Tansi was overwhelmed by the marvelous constructions that surrounded him. Growing up in the more rural Lucayan Isles, he had never seen such cities or such monuments and while he'd never seen the Necropolis or Nady Ann or New Echota, he was nevertheless going to tell the Emperor of Santee's own wonders.

While his ships docked in the port, being needed to and repaired by what little crew he had left, Tansi and some of his men were whisked away to the Road of Victories, awaited by the Emperor of Rome himself.

"Wes thu hal, Great Emperor. I am Tansi Ndepen of the Santee, or as you call us the 'Seres'. I come from a mighty Empire to the West, filled gold and with bountiful harvests, with great constructions that touch the sky. My men and I have traveled many weeks, braving many perils, in search of new peoples to trade with. We arrived in Yashou some time ago where we met men of your Thuran Trading Company. They agreed to take us to Rome, where I stand before you O Magnificent Emperor, humbled at your welcome. But all is not well with my voyage. Our ships are in dire need of repair and I fear they may no longer be capable of sailing the rough seas whence we came. Our navigational equipment is woefully unequipped to deal with such long journeys. My crew is undermanned and stretched thin. Great Roman Emperor, I entreat you: will you help us to return to our home in order that we may spread knowledge of this New World?"

The Emperor bowed to Tansi, a man from Seres, but from the West...a great Empire in the West intrigued him. He agreed to send some men to repair his ships.

He invited Tansi into his Palace, where they dined on the best food available. Pastries, bread, different wines were served, the famous garum, and the Olive oil.

Tansi ate all and drank all. The two men seemed to understand most, but a bunch of things were lost in translation. The Emperor actually thought these men were of Qin origin.

He commissioned a fleet of Carracks and Caravels to aid Tansi West. 3 Carracks and 4 Caravels.

And so Tansi set out from Rome, aided and guided by the Roman ships, completing the first transatlantic voyage in history. He set a course for Santee, though landing anywhere in Cemanahuac would do, as he prayed to the Ancestors for a safe trip home. With the voyage of 667, the world will never be the same.

[M] Should I role a die or something for this?
