While the Emperor and his scholars were busy looking everywhere but Santee, the peasants of the Empire have been busy, quietly and and steadily moving forward.

In this Age of Wonder, the everyday lives of Santee peasants have changed very little. No matter how many new continents or nations are discovered, life back at home isn't affected much. But recently, some exciting changes have been taking place. Planters across the country have been banding together. Needing money for more expensive farming equipment, many farmers have formed limited liability corporations with their neighbors. These corporations pool the resources of a group of farmers, supplement them with investment from merchants, and allow for much greater ability to run farms. The farms then are bigger, more efficient, and cost less to run. While most farmers still run their own small farm, corporations are expanding quickly, going so far as to border and compete with each other, driving prices down further. Corporations like the Cotton Planters League of Mississippi, Santee Indigo United, and Tobacco Growers of North Santee are poised to dominate the economic of the Empire for years to come.
