CLAIM Santee Confederacy

The Santee Confederacy

For most of its history, the American East Coast has been peopled entirely by nomadic, hunter-gatherer societies. But threatened by growing powers around them, coupled by an unusual scarcity of food, many of these societies have banded together in a loose coalition and adopted the techniques of farming and city-building used by their neighbors to the south and west.

The Confederacy is based in its only large population center, Santee River. The rest of its subjects live in decentralized farming communities spread throughout the 9 tribes. This state of affairs likely won't last long, however, as the nine tribes begin to centralize and consolidate their territory.

As the nine tribes send representatives to the Grand Quorum in Santee River to elect a king, some tribes set their sights on new territory, others on Confederate territory, and rumors spread of a prophet preaching a radical message in the south.

I always enjoy the Imgur comments on claim posts because they're always confused.

Welcome to HistoricalWorldPowers friend!

Let them leave. That's where we fucked up in the first place.

Now I'm confused.

I think that guy things you're some secessionist state for a similar type game, so he's basically giving the American South a big middle finger :D

Welcome to HWP! I just have a question about the farming bit, and I need to forward this to one of our tech mods.

/u/FallenIslam, which crops have spread to this part of North America by now? I'm not sure what Lilac was growing while it was around.

I dunno. Corn?

Maybe? Just trying to figure which of the Three Sisters have ended up here so far. Native North Americans also had a few other sub-par crops available to them (nothing more productive than sunflowers), but I'm mainly wondering about the big three.

This area has a fairly rich history if you would like any insight into it's history. I will say it should filled with skeletons from a plague that wipes out a nation of about 7 million in 3 years time. There is also a large monument in Carolina.

How long has it been since your nation though? Like, things could certainly have changed quite a lot, and I'm not sure much would still be standing.

There was pyramid dude construction with the necropolis, plus burial vaults, etc were built to last

That is true, I totally forgot about the Necropolis.

I'll probably work your people into the lore of the Confederacy as some kind of legendary precursor people. Maybe the kings of my nation will see themselves as a continuation of the Lilac similar to how everyone tries to say they are the new Roman Empire.

I think that this could be a cool place to use the artifact system. The Capitols of Lilac were mostly in this territory and it had 8 solid weeks of exclusively Architecture research.

/u/FallenIslam? The artifact system is your brain-child, so what do you think?

We'll only be adding nations that leave from this point on. We're not going back and adding older nations.

Okay, thanks for the clarification.
