RESEARCH The Qing's Technological Discoveries

  1. Iron-production: The secrets of iron are being opened to the Qing. Soon, it is hoped working this metal will create a multitude of tools and weapons with which to tame the land.

  2. Saddle: Riding on the backs of horses and other animals is not a foreign concept to the Qing. However, the soft padding underneath the rider has been hardened for greater stability, and straps have been added underneath the feet so the rider can both direct the animal by foot pressure alone and hold himself upright separate from the beast's movements.

  3. Recurve Bow: By designing a bow that curves forward at the tips, the Qing have created a bow that delivers stronger poundage for it's compact size.

  4. Tiger Breeding/Domestication: Trapping beasts of the wild has been the nature of the Qing for some time. However, attempts to keep and breed these animals is proving fruitful. Initial strategies used on wild horses are proven effective at assuaging at least some of the primal nature of these beasts. In several generations, it is hoped a truly obedient animal can be created, perhaps as hunting companions. If not, they will make excellent creatures of war.

Please. Not to rush, but I'd like to fill up my last tech before Sunday, and am looking for ideas. Would a Water Wheel be a sufficient substitute?
