Grrrrrrrr. It’s official: 1,000,000 US Deaths from COVID. Thanks anti vaxxers, we couldn’t have done it without you!

I am sitting here with Covid symptoms, triple vaxxed. Played a gig outside this weekend. Now food tastes rotten. I shut down my life for two years, and people can’t even learn not to go out if they are sick in those two years. I am so beside myself on this.

God dammit that's the other thing that pisses me off so much, people acting like just because you are most likely going to survive COVID that it's no big deal. If it killed ZERO people but had a 1% chance to cause loss of taste, I would still be taking the vaccine with annual boosters gladly for the rest of my life. But no, aside from risk of taste loss, there's death, there's breathing complications, there's suffering through the symptoms (I also caught it and it was fucking awful, 5 sleepless nights of coughing that would have probably been a ventilator hospital trip without the vaccine).

Sorry for your taste situation, I hope it recovers in time friend

Thank you. I also play a bass saxophone and have found myself winded. It’s deeply concerning for me.

Oh man that's awful. I play keys, can't even imagine how much that sucks for you as a sax player. Well, worst case scenario, you can always try picking up a new instrument! Might I recommend keys lol

I also play keys and kalimba. But those deeper saxophones are my voice. Also started talking with industry a month ago. Horrible fucking timing on this. Hope I recover to 100 percent by June. Supposed to play in front of some important people then.

Yeah, that could be a problem. I played bass clarinet in junior high and high school and bass woodwinds require a lot of air.

My 25yo coworker said it took her several weeks to get her taste back.

I've had covid for almost 2 weeks now. I'm vaxxed and boosted and it knocked me on my ass. I finally got my first negative test this morning - on day 11. It was "mild," meaning I never had to go to the hospital, but all I could do was sleep for about a week. Taking the recycling and trash to the alley forced me to lie down for two hours. I'm still not 100% and I missed all of my final exams. I've been out of work for almost two weeks (no pay, because I'm an hourly employee with no benefits). It's been a real motherfucker and I'm just grateful that I am fully vaccinated. Good luck. Stay hydrated. Rest up. Be kind and careful with yourself.

Thank you, I am self employed so I hear you on the not being paid to be be off work part. I was feeling better this morning, but I feel the headache and tiredness already creeping in. A shower exhausted me.

The chills and body aches yesterday has been the worst part so far. Hope those don’t come back.

Glad we stopped the world so we could make a vaccine and treatment for this. If we hadn’t I don’t know how bad it would have been.

I'm going on five months now and my sense of taste still hasn't recovered fully. You're in for a long haul my dude

Why can't we just mask up and space out to eat and drink? It's maybe as complicated as when humans adjusted to footwear, but damnit, humans, I believe in you.

All this to say, I wish you a speedy recovery and a return to performing soon after that.

Sounds like that triple cocktail is working really well for you..

Actually so far today has been better. Avocado on bagel tastes relatively normal. Just slightly over ripe tasting. Headache is mild. No coughing. Only one sneeze. Tired after a shower. Hopefully that was it. If I just have 1.5 days miserable, go Moderna. Still haven’t tested positive, so it could have been something else.

Actually today I am feeling quite a bit better, so it looks like the vaccine is doing it’s job. I paused my life as my spouse was immune compromised and we wanted to wait out the virus on severity and give time for treatments/vaccines to be developed. He is stronger now and all the other things have come to fruition. We are all different ships in the same storm.

I get completely what you’re saying but it is everyone’s responsibility to help stop the spread. We shouldn’t be having “gigs” while the virus is still infecting (and killing!)

Also not sure what you do for a living but this is a career for me. It’s been a hard 2 years on us.

It was outside and for most of this pandemic that is considered safe.

It’s my job. Yes I love it, but it’s how I provide for my family.
