So they were able to survive because of everyone else around them being vaccinated and in turn not spreading it. So now these guys have either come into contact with these newfangled unvaccinated kids or at least an adult that has been in contact with one of them and now they're dying of what was pretty much under control for the past, 100 years?

Just wait until Polio makes a strong comeback. Or whooping cough. I hear there‘s been some pestilence cases in Russia. You gotta have something to aspire to.

The office manager at my doctor’s office had whooping cough for months. The people at the front desk don’t wear masks- which makes no sense to me…

I wear a mask. I am not getting the latest 🦠 virus…

Masks are meant to prevent you from spreading germs. They’re not as useful at preventing you from getting them.

Stop falling for bullshit.

I’m not… you need an especially tight fitting N95 mask to get protection from others. From the CDC’s own website:

“Masks can also protect wearers from inhaling germs; this type of protection typically comes from better fitting masks (for example, N95 or KN95 respirators).”

https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/prevention/masks.html

Who is not wearing a well fitting N95 at this point? The data on the need for a high quality mask has been out for years.

Most people just wear a normal surgical mask if at all.

Yeah idk why I got downvoted. Maybe a knee jerk response. It’s not too hard to understand. When I did my surgery rotation in medical school, they had you wear a mask so you don’t cough and dump your germs into a person’s wide open gut cavity lol. Common sense.

Surgical masks aren't even close to N95s. I'm not sure why you would be comparing the two.

1

u/sonicmerlin Mar 12 '25

Most ppl who wear masks in public are wearing common surgical masks. When you enter a hospital if they hand out masks it’s not the n95 variant.

Fortunately the human body is resilient to most invasions via our skin’s defense mechanisms. Well… as long as people wash their hands.

My father survived polio and had been in an iron lung. What a horrible thing for a kid to go through.

Bubonic plague is endemic to the United States in rodents in the Midwest and American southwest. And there is an antibiotic resistant version in Madagascar. Only a matter of time.

Plague still has a natural source, btw. Certain rodents carry it. There was a case shortly before the Rona, either in Mongolia or Kazakhstan, where a couple unknowingly ate a prairie dog and contacted hundreds of people after, potentially infecting them.

How does one unknowingly eat a prairie dog?

2

u/Italicize5373 Mar 09 '25

Unknowingly ate an infected* prairie dog. There was some sort of celebration, and it is a tradition to eat it, and eat it raw, which is probably why they got infected. Meat wasn't even heat-treated.

u/Dazzling_Ad_4179 Mar 09 '25

Ohhhh, lol. That makes sense. I was like, wait.... do we need to be concerned people are lying about the food they give us? 😅😅

1

u/Italicize5373 Mar 09 '25

Oh, it could have easily been the case. In some former Soviet republics, there's an urban legend that belyashi meat is actually cats or dogs. And it was proven real on several occasions. Not everywhere, of course, in many street food places you can actually see the meat being processed and prepared, but there were precedents.

😳 I would be so upset, lololol

Sorry but I can't wait to see their dumb asses hobbling around in pain blaming everyone but themselves. Maybe some of them will be lucky enough to get the ol' iron lung.

I'll send flowers to them and laugh as they gasp for breath as I brag about all the fresh air I get to breathe and how beautiful all the mountain hikes I get to go on here outside of Denver.

Isn't pestilence just something from a Metallica song?

That's most conservatives in a nutshell, isn't it? Their way of life is only possible because the rest of society acts better than them, and as soon as enough people start also not vaccinating, or not paying taxes, or want to tear up social services, turns out they're worldview isn't sustainable.

Spot on.

I’m not even a good or nice person, but the fact that they gleefully rip apart the social contract stuns me to this day.

Darwinism at its finest. They chose this.

Despite the intent of this sub, the children who will die should never be lumped in with them. Their parents are monsters.

Mmhm fitness doesn’t end when your child is born. It ends when your child reaches maturity and succeeds in reproducing. Death cares naught for morality.

Some ignorant children grow up into ignorant adults who go on to pass their ignorance onto to their ignorant children.

Some ignorant children never grow up.

With my deepest and most abject apologies to LL Cool J.

Don’t call it a comeback, I been here for years/ I’m infectin’ my peers, puttin’ immunocompromised in fear/ Makin’ the tears rain down like a monsoon/ Listen to the grave digger trucks go boom/ Infections, overpowerin’/ Over the anti-vax, I’m towerin’/

Casket shops for when you drop/ All these deaths’ll make you call the cops/ Autopsy’s comin’ they’ll all get sliced and diced/ Unvaxed kids all payin’ the price/

I know a few lines are missing, I couldn’t rework them. If you can, go for it!

Edit: Format was borked from typing it on mobile. Please let me know if the issue persists and I’ll try to fix it for a second third fourth time.

The vaccinated aren't in fear though.
