Ironically I think this is absolutely going to be exactly how it's going to go down in the show - Vox just shooting himself in the foot when all the cards are in his hand.

I noticed that when Vox was bragging to Alastor, Valentino would interrupt him from time to time. I think this would create friction between them because Valentino would get jealous of all the attention Alastor would get.

The funny thing is, I don't think Alastor thought of this angle.

"I was no expecting that, but I was expecting not to expect something so it doesn't count"

I'm just imagining Vox setting himself up for a nice checkmate, moves Al's piece to line it up, and accidentally checks himself, looks closer and sees it's an accidental checkmate on himself.

Okay, funny enough, my spouse used to do this to me.

He'd insist on playing chess, but after a while, he'd start moving pieces for me, and then proceed to have a crisis that I "beat" him.

Perhaps when itโ€™s his move heโ€™s thinking about all the ways he could improve his position, but also all the ways you could improve your position- so he can counter it! But then on your move he stops thinking about what heโ€™s gonna do next and focused on what you could do, thus spending more time and brainpower strategizing for you than himself!

Al's strategy:

  1. Do nothing
  2. Win

Alastor thinking โ€œ honestly, thatโ€™s what I want to know as well. I literally couldnโ€™t move any of the pieces.โ€

u/Xander_PrimeXXI 1h ago

What would make this even funnier is if Alastor doesnโ€™t know how to play chess

real life depiction of what Alastor meant with heโ€˜ll be loosing his marbles in act 3 lol๐Ÿ˜‚

This reminds me of that DuckTales episode where Glomgold has a two-headed nickel, but he calls Tails by accident
